  • Non

  • I know she passed away but what happened to her? How did she die?

  • @chrismc410 I believe she dies of a heart attack after having a heart operation the year before her death.

  • I Remember whe nPersis Khambatta died Tragically of a Heart Attack :(

  • OMG

  • Deltans are hairless on top but below....Nice beaver! LOL

  • She was gorgeous!

  • what a delightful sight! what an unworldly beauty... she looks beautiful with hair - but all the more elegant and feminine without...

  • xaxaxaxaxa goot

  • By far one of the top 10 beautiful women in history. Flawless face, INCREDIBLE legs. I have yet to see a woman with better legs. Amerie is a dead tie. RIP to her.

  • She looks like Norah Jones.! (Makes sense, since Norah is part Indian).

  • Even though she was beautiful with a bald head, she was more beautiful with her hair, in fact, too beautiful to be shaven bald. A woman with her tremendous beauty is just too beautiful to be seen bald.

  • I am of the opposite opinion of many commenters on here; I think she is most beautiful with her hair. :) Even though she does have an interesting beauty with a bald head. :)

  • for what movie was this?

  • @murray821 Star Trek the Motion Picture

  • Very beautiful woman, RIP Persis.

  • She was a beautiful woman bald and all, every time I hear that music I think about her rip Persis.

  • omg this is a crime gorgeous hair.

  • I'm pretty sure she could pull off any type of haircut.

  • Poor thing, trying to keep a brave front--you could see how upset she was. Didn't matter--she was breathtakingly beautiful even without hair.

  • Persis was so beautiful! I don't know why this wasn't included on the special features of the DVD.

  • She was beautiful

  • she looks great bald!

  • RIP Persis Khambatta,we miss you!

  • at the end she looks so happy O_O

  • excellent shave

  • she looks pretty damn good bald

  • it's sad that she died so young and reportedly poor.

  • Always had a HUGE crush on Persis Khambatta

  • She looks better with her head shaved.

  • She looked pretty hot in that movie.

  • Hey, it worked for her.

  • Hey if she was thinking in 80's terms, that could have been New Wave for her.

  • I just had my head shaved yesterday. I thought of Persis and how beautiful she looked. I think if she we're still living and kept the bald look I think many more wormen would be willing to try it. I for one am vey happy with my look and I've done it several times in the past. Persis will never be forgotten.

  • I think she looks great bald

  • This is one of the best videos on YouTube,

  • Poor Persis. She looked so sad as the scissors cut the first of her locks off and again when the clippers made the first pass through her gorgeous tresses.

  • That's "So" sad that she died back in 1998 from a heart attack............Not only was she "Absolutely Gorgeous" on the outside, she was pretty on the inside as well......She will "Always" be "Forever Missed." :(

  • what a beautiful woman! lovely blad or with a head full of hair!

  • too me as a woman shaving your head is so liberating. It's a beautiful thing.

  • daca tundea din parti si in spate un pic mai mult....facea un bob ras la spate....era prea frumoasaca are par frumos semicret

  • Now that's courage, she had her head shaved long before there was any trend or culture to rally behind it. Now you can walk around in a meat dress and get applause.

  • This would have been awsome on Star Trek DVD !!!

  • You're absolutely right. I don't know why it was not included in either the VHS tape or the DVD.

  • i am khambatta i have given my daughter name persis too when i met her she had smile of angel i am sad she died too early because of smoking (please pretty girls don't smoke)

  • @yazdik Persis Khambatta had her first heart bypass surgery at age 35, and died of a heart attack at age 49, not from smoking. Seems like it was a cogenital heart defect.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Persis Khambatta who was born October 2, 1948 in Bombay, India. She was an Indian model, actress and former 'Miss India' best remembered for her roles in the film 'Star Trek' and 'Nighthawks'. She died of a heart attack August 18, 1998 age 49.

  • The Motion Picture was the best, far and away, I think. It had the deepest plot of all. It did have less action, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

  • @alldaytubin - Agreed, still my favorite and the best sci-fi plot!

  • Say what you want about Star Trek: The Motion Picture -- Persis Khambatta was absolutely incredible looking with hair AND without. Incredibly beautiful.

  • With a face like that you don't need hair to enhance it. What beautiful girl. It's a shame she died at such a young age.

  • She looks way more beautiful after she's been shaved bald. Such a brave thing to do way back in the 70s. She pioneered the look for all the women who've done it since.

  • She was so beautiful even bald, such a shame that she died broke and far too young of a heart attack. :(

  • She's not dead. She's listed as missing.

  • To baldly go where no woman has gone before!

  • she looks hotter without hair

  • I wish I could have been there with her; I would have shaved my head too so she wouldn't have to go through it alone.

  • she has no reason to cry! She looks absolutely beautiful with her head shaved =)

  • @quackimaduck000 Well you have to remember, she was Miss India! She was a beauty queen! When you're someone like that who prizes your looks it's kind of rough on you when something like that changes. It was probably humbling and broke her pride a little.

  • Too bad her character had to be bald. She had such nice hair. But she still looked OK either way.

  • Absolutely stupid and ridiculous. Why couldn't they just fit her with a flesh colored skull cap that could fit over her partly shaved head?

  • What would be the point of shaving only part of it? Besides a skull cap would take too long to apply every day and even Persis said it would ruin her hair. Better to shave it off and stay bald for the duration of the film. Persis said she was bald for seven montrhs and had thicker better-quality hair afterwards. She enjoyed being bald and claims she had plenty of dates because of it.

  • @jdewitt77

Absolutely right. And besides, bald caps never look real.

I've been aware of the existence of this footage for years, but this is the only place I've been able to find any of it. Wouldn't mind seeing an unedited version.

  • @preachermyron She didn't want one.

  • She was a class act all the way. So gracious to smile even after having all of her hair shaved off. What a beautiful person inside and out.

  • Gene Roddenberry in great bio (All About Jeffrey hunetr) at kindle! Bio just $1.09!

  • IT's Jack from ME2

  • Sexier without hair

  • Aw, what a good sport. Its very hard to lose something you're so attached to.

Completely unrelated, my name is also Persis.

  • eventhough She was a gorgeous woman, She was miss India in 1965, and went to the miss universe pageant in 1965, She did not place, the miss universe 1965 was miss Thailand Apasra Hongsakula. but as an actress She became a star.

  • Hey she was Parsi from Bombay, India. We are born explorers and love star trek.

  • I think there's speculation that she was assassinated. She died in 1998, very tragic.

  • you are still very beautiful even without hair xoxoxo

  • Damn, she started crying? It wasn't that serious...

  • It was: if one takes into consideration her background > reputation as a beauty queen & glamour model: not to mention how this significant sacrifice would be received by her husband > children (?) > family, etc....

I can't imagine very many women back then would have happily chosen to have their heads totally shaven without feeling some appreciable degree of emotion.

For this reason Persis should be mercifully forgiven.

  • Remember this all happened in an era where she (in terms of being a newcomer actor of such type of a walk of life) would have been a pioneer.

  • @TheKingOfRuckus Like I just said to someone else, she was once a beauty queen (Miss India). You do the equation from there. LOL

  • Persis was great in Nighthawks. I wish there was a clip like this for Nancy Allen when she had her haircut for RoboCop.

  • Any woman would have that done for the amount of cash she got paid for that movie.

  • I believe she was only paid $35,000 for the part. That wasn't that much money even in 1978 especially that she had to shave her head. She should have been paid 100 times that amount. Such a beautiful woman with hair or without.

  • @jdewitt77 $3.5 million for a actress making her feature film debut? I'm sorry, but I would find that hard to accept, especially in 1978-79.

  • @Tubewings "$35,000"

the guy said 35 thousand. a million would have 6 zeros.

  • @variousiroiro Uh, I think you missed my point. jdewitt77 said "She should have been paid 100 times that amount." 100 times $35,000 is $3,500,000. I simply stated that $3.5 million for a debuting actress would be hart to accept, especially in 1978-79.

  • @Tubewings oops sorry. you are right. i didn't see that part.

  • @jdewitt77 The movie had very little money to spend - so it was basically "Take what we can pay you or leave." They had to spend some extra cash for Leanord Nimoy and tech. effects.

  • @jdewitt77

    She should have done porno

  • @jdewitt77 That amount was probably SAG standard in 1978

  • @jdewitt77 Yes she was. And she should have gotten way more for the part, I agree. Hopefully her hair grew back REALLY fast! LOL :)

  • wow. :O

she must be very brave to do this!

  • Such a beautiful woman.

  • wow WOW WOW! oh my how beautiful she is bald. if i could only find a lady that had that look and bald.

  • She should have kept that look for awhile longer. She would have been the center of attention at the Oscars that's for sure. Imagine how jealous many other women would have been had they seen a bald woman getting all that attention after they spend so much time and money on their hair.

  • There is something beautiful about this clip. I have watched it five times now.

  • Thank you for posting this vid !

  • she has a daughter roshan khambatta, they're both beautiful

  • She's as pretty as Kimi Katkar.

  • Ya gotta SACRIFICE for your art! But hey, with a face like that she could wear antlers and look sexy!

  • she looks absolutely stunning with a bald head though, I can understand any woman (especially) getting upset at the prospect of losing her hair ... but Persis proves that this can sometimes be a very positive move ... sadly Persis died of a heart attack in 1998 ... such a sad loss.

  • Now that's what I call dedication to your art.

Mind you, there is such a thing as baldy head wigs. We would have understood if she opted for the baldy wig.

  • Hi.

    This is a great video.

You know folks this could be worth $.

  • um...y did she have her head shaved? was it for a movie, punishment, tradition, or just plain fun? she cried so she probably didn't enjoy it but at the end she smiled so i guess she's okay. please look at my Percy jackson Chat rooms and please subscribe to me.

  • Back in college (c.1997) I knew a girl who kept her head shaved. She still looked great. Then she grew her hair back and she looked HORRIBLE. Her hair looked like sofa stuffing!

I said to myself "no wonder she kept her head shaved all these years"!

  • um @underwater911 it was 4 a movie. star trek i believe.

  • oh I feel so sorry for her!

  • why did she have to shave it?

  • poor gal lol

  • good old video

  • More women should try this style at least once in their lives.

  • Persis Kambhatta ... she had all the beauty and the talent. Her life drew to a close in the most unbefitting manner.

  • She must have felt much cleaner, cooler, and lighter afterwards. A great hairstyle for the summer and very refreshing to the skin. and easy to maintain too.

  • all in the name of star trek haha

  • Damn i feel sorry for her, she cried so bad. I guess it is one of the hardest things for a woman,...loosing her hair,...:-(

  • She is hot. She was proof that bald could work on a woman. I could see this coming back if the right woman did it.

  • easily as geogeous without hair!!!

  • even with her head shaved she was still a perfect beauty, very womanly, one to love and die for!

  • She looks good after the headshave.

  • Well Pat Evans and Grace Jones had shaved their heads before this, but Persis did look great. Such a good film as well.

  • Creation of an icon. Amazing transformation!

  • I had seen stills from this and always wondered about it was filmed. Now my question is answered . YYAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!!

  • She looked absolutely extraordinary, after her head had been clean shaven properly: as she obviously seemed to realize when seeing the end result in the mirror....hence the reason why she instantly became so happy.

It's such a sad pity that she is no longer with us.

I feel like crying at the loss of such a great person, and wonderful woman.

  • For me personally she is not only the most beautiful & courageous bald headed woman in movie/TV history: but also the woman by which all other shaven headed women should be judged!

You could see her visibly fighting with her emotions from the beginning, and even crying as the last half of her lovely flowing black hair was about to be sheared off.

If this isn't testament to her true dedication > ambition to be a great actress at virtually any cost, then I dunno what is?

  • I like the part, at about 1:43, where she reaches up to touch her hair and it falls off in her hand! She was a very beautiful woman and that film was a milestone for me. Thanks for posting it.

  • She is beautiful also still after the shave i respect that kind of woman...no bald cap!!

  • This is a wonderful headshave and I can remember her having it done for the film. She refused to wear a bald cap and bravely had all her hair shaved. I think Persis looks stunning without her hair.

  • wow the best shave of late 90's i've ever seen

  • @spoty112 Try 1978. LOL

  • shes an INDIAN pride i love her alot

  • Thanks so much for posting this. This is one of the best headshave videos ever.

  • I have no idea what show/movie this was for. But she was STILL hot , especially after the buzz....

  • This from Star Trek the Motion picture first Star Movie came out in 1979

  • me too Kaaaem

  • she had boring 70s hair before.

  • WOW!! Thanks. I have been waiting 30 years to see this.

  • hey shez smoking!!!

  • new favorite. thanks for posting
