  • I still find his death difficult. Unbelievable that so lithe and energetic a man, youthful in voice and look ,should go so suddenly; so much undiminished. A few weeks before he was stomping over tables as the "Witch" at the Met.! God grant him true rest and reward for all he has given, and blessings on those who loved him.

  • @hedgechair His death actually put me in a funk for some weeks. The singers of his generation are the ones I grew up with, and were always there, to some extent, and feel like dear old friends to me.

  • The costume was a big mistake - it's a sin to dress an elegant man like Philip in this retired-poor-teacher outfit. And the rest is traditional. Did they take the "centuries ago" part seriously?

But he's wonderful, no matter what they made him to wear. Poor Philip... I hope he's having sweet dreams. :'( When will we have someone like him?

  • @Sieglinde84 Elegant, yes, but he had range. I am never really sure how I feel about Vere; I am usually inclined to judge him harshly. But Langridge really makes me sympathize. Yes, he is greatly missed.
