Luckily, our government is on weak political footing with its people and its unlikely they will be conducting any new large operations anywhere. At the same time, often we don't even know or hear about what our military is doing, which is sad. Your assertion that people with guns are only for killing is a large simplification. Do police kill people? In latinamerica they do regularly but in America they protect us. Troops are more often used to intimidate or secure (steal) land than to kill.

I have traveled through most of Central America. Driving from Texas to Guatemala, me and my grandparents were held hostage over 10 times by policia-gunmen in pickup trucks. I've seen Jewel live three times and I'm pretty sure all three were the best shows I've ever been to. She's such a good performer and singer.
