@6030diesel Because the stock gauge and sending units on these things are worthless for accurate numbers. I had the oil pressure sending unit go bad, and i replaced it. It reads lower now(in the vid) than it did with the old sending unit. Just for the heck of it i stuck my mechanical gauge on it one day and had about 70-80psi(cant remember for sure now) when the truck was at a cold idle. A mechanical gauge is the only way to really know your oil pressure.
Nothing like a nice tight converter and a good valve body. This is my about stock trans with normal acceleration. With my new full billet trans its faster every where and gets better mileage since the power is actually gettin to the ground now.
there was a recall for the clock spring on these trucks. probably why your airbag light is on. it's a safety recall so it should still be in effect and free. :D My Ram only has the 5.9 Gas. :-/
@MasterTenku Because the transmission is efficiently putting the power to the ground. If I run it hard it shifts at redline, but normally accelerating this is how it should be.
@CumminsDriver635 oh, its auto? I'm too used to seeing manual shifts where the only way the driver knows when to shift is by engine noise and the revs increasing
@14x4nut I love Goerend stuff. My cousin runs a full billet tranny from him in his pulling truck, a 97 dodge, and it has been in the truck for about 3 years and he hasnt had a single problem from it. I really like his converter, and valve body in mine too. The rest of the tranny is stock, but those parts have made it hold the power great.
This is a 5.9 Litre Cummins Turbo Diesel. Its a mechanically injected "12 valve" inline 6 cylinder engine. I love the cummins too. I have 249k miles on it now and no problems from the engine. I can get 19-20mpg no problem if i drive easy like i did in this video. I can get 22mpg interstate driving at 75-80mph. I think it does pretty good for a 7k pound truck.
we have a landcruiser prado 3.0 diesel (4cyl) here and it has a fuel consumtionmeter that's calculating the fuel consumption for the last 30k km or so and today it reached 9.1l/100km (25.8mpg) he drives very calmly (max 100 km on highway)
i'm more a sportive driver (like some small races from redlight somethimes to 120km/h) and almost always drive 130km/h on highway, not bad of a fuel consumption then eh :)
but my dream is a landcruiser hdj80 (4.2 turbo diesel)
Do you have a aftermarket turbo, or did you remove the silencer ring?
snorkelinatv08 2 months ago
@snorkelinatv08 Its the stock turbo with no silencer ring and a large cone filter.
CumminsDriver635 2 months ago
how much that cost you?
7654321rebecca 6 months ago
@7654321rebecca Converter is about $1200, and the valve body ran $450 or so.

how come your oil presure is so low at hot idle? mine is 45 pounds at cold ide and about 60 at 1200+ RPM hot.
