I think you need to clean your track and or wheels on your engines to get a more smooth run. Video shows your engines are in a jerking movement. Not sure if it's just the video or what.
@Silver1Sprg I think it is the motor that does not have enough poles to run smooth at slow speed. The track is obviously ok because the power to the lights on the engine did not blink at all.
The tycos tain looks like a commerical, wit all that product placement ! I'd weather up that thing and get rid of the Sanka, Kelllogs ect cars, I've never seen them in real. Paint em flat black or greay and ad some numbers. Of course they are proabably worth something on Ebay.
I'm not complaining, I'm offering advive. Just saying that the advertising cars don't look very real. And I dont have a house trailer idiot ! The layout looks very nice, just those old Tyco cars always looked toy like, I even thought so when I was a kid, I'm 44 now. I bet they may be worth something to someone as they are. Still a cool layout.
I wonder if Tyco made money from advertising for all those companies, or if thay had to pay for the rights to use the various companies logos, and such?
I understand that Tyco trains company was sold to Consolidated Foods Corparation in the 70s. I would guess that's where all the food & products cars were born....
It's an MRC decoder. I forget which model but it was cheap as new ($40) 2 years ago. I had to add an oval speaker for fit though, and that was another $10.
The Tyco hoppers going by are so cool! I love the fairly rare Maxwell House and the Domino Hopper & Sanka are neat as well! I have alarge collection of Tyco train items and Life-Like buildings of the 70s, including the rere McDonalds kit. This clip is great!
Good question, I honestly don't know if it comes that way or not since I immediately installed a decoder. The beacon is wired to the AUX light function on the decoder, which was preconfigured as a flasher. So that was pretty easy at least.
I'm actually inclined to say that it probably does NOT flash as stock (without a decoder), but it may light up.
Well, the MRC has its limits but it the one it DIDN'T have, was fitting my budget ;) I wasn't too impressed with the LokSound on the PCM Reading T1... I mean it sounded OK but what's the big deal?
I have to get a decoder for my custom SD45, so I'll be shopping around...
Hey Spider76, are you the ebay seller that had the Tide Hopper repro on a while back? I would like to get a Tyco yellow Burlington Northern boxcar.... Great clip!
Spider,, the was a yellow BN boxcar on ebay ending January 6th. I forgot about it that evening and missed a last second bid.... Your Tide hopper is neat. Being a bodyman by trade, I could easily paint a Tide hopper, but have no knowledge on decal making...

My Dad collects Tyco Trains. They do have an "too clean" and a commericial appearance. But, that is what they are, and some people do like them.

Does the beacon on top of the cab flash on stock GP40X models? I mean does it work this way out of the box, or did you make it work? Thanks.
