I'm mexican and I have to agree with you, a friend of mine left for Canada about four years ago, her whole family made up a bunch of crap about how they lived here threatened, so they left to canada. They were given jobs and an apartment, education and eventually, they were given their nationality. As soon as the had it, they came back to Mexico, and I´m pretty sure that's what happenen in most cases.
This people didn't need it, because before they left to canada they had a very nice house, and good money, they even owned a private school. I failed to see why did they even do it. That's too bad, now it will be almost impossible to get a visa for ordinary Mexicans to come to Canada. One reason, cus Canada immigration is so freaking strict that it takes forever to get visa. Secondly, there will be a big lineup. In my view, Canada will benefit from this, why, cus more cash will be made by Canada immigration. Secondly, they can control who can come and who cannot come to Canada. So this is good for Canada bad for Mexico.. Sad reality of life.. :,(

I remember that once in a business trip to the US I mentioned to canadian coworker that I wanted to visit Canada.
He said "why go to Canada" and I said "because is nearby, I don't need a visa, and I want to say that I went to Canada".

How many thousands of bonifide ticket holding Mexican tourists have been screwed by this idiotic maneuver? Don't you think a few months notice would have been appropriate? P.V. and Guadalajara Consulates are inundated with calls from frantic travelers. Only Consulate issuing visas is D.F. and they are swamped. The incompetents in Ottawa have really shown their colours this time round. Did they include the Czechs just so that they can say, "Hey look we did it to white people too!"

Vivo en Canada y creeme que para nada le va a afectar mas a Canada que a Mexico. Si Mexico se sigue poniendo al brinco, con eso de exigirles a los politicos canadienses visas para entrar al pais, ya empezo mal la cosa, Canada esta en su derecho de implementar la visa por muchos mexicanos que pidieron asilo y no estan haciendo nada mas que de ilegales aya. Ahora, cabe mencionar que Canada hizo todo muy rapido y hay cierta sensacion de reproche o represalia, aun asi sobran turistas de otros lados.

Yo naci en Canada, mi padre es mexicano y mi madre canadiense, asi que en primera no me fui a vivir para alla, y en segunda parece que nomas alegas por alegar, teniendo relativos de ambos lados y haber vivido en ambos paises, entiendo mejor como funciona este asusnto que esta sucediendo.

I'm mexican and I have to agree with you, a friend of mine left for Canada about four years ago, her whole family made up a bunch of crap about how they lived here threatened, so they left to canada. They were given jobs and an apartment, education and eventually, they were given their nationality. As soon as the had it, they came back to Mexico, and I´m pretty sure that's what happenen in most cases.

Yeah? Well I've never met anyone (Mexican) that applied for a refugee status or anyone who make up stories. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen of course, but a lot of people come to visit, or to work legally as a skilled worker, to study, for business. And yes, it does feel racist. I understand Canadian people is being spoon fed by the media with this, but it does feel discriminatory. Canada was the last country this would be expected from. Expect more if they keep electing "Mini G.W. Bush Jr"

Quiero mucho a México y su gente. Sin embargo, esta medida es lógica. Canadá aplica visas a todos los países de Latinoamérica y México era la excepción. Canadá promueve que vengan emigrantes legalmente de todo Latinoamerica. Creo que el Gobierno tomó esta medida porque si da tiempo, como pasó hace años, una gran masa de ilegales entren a Canadá y sigan abusando del refugio político siendo esta una alternativa que tienen ciudadanos de países en conflicto de vivir en libertad y paz.
