I love Jeff Beck & think "Superstition" is a great song whether it is Stevie's, BBA's or SRV's, but even though this version has the great Carmine Appice playing drums on it, I personally prefer the drum sound on Stevie Wonder's. Particularily how it is the drum beat that starts the song.
I like this one too but I have to say that the piano part of Stevie Wonder's version brings more groove and I prefer Wonder's voice. Anyways, thanks to upload this one, always nice to here it :)
@metallofolle This version is the original believe it or not :) Stevie Wonder wrote it for Jeff Beck, but decided to do it himself cos even though Jeff Beck had already recorded this version. So Stevie Released his version and wrote another song for Jeff Beck which also turned out to be a hit
@ChristopherGoldman Actually Jeff was working on Stevie's album "Talking Book" & Stevie wrote this song & Jeff kind of came up with the drum beat apparently. SW offered the song to Jeff as a thank you for working on the album, but as soon as Motown Records President, Berry Gordy heard it he demanded that Stevie record it himself. Stevie's version appears on "Talking Book" released in 1972, while the Beck, Bogert, & Appice (BBA) version (this one) was in 1973.
