I wonder why americans always produce these films althought they aren't really interested in German history and history of foreign countries in general. actually you have to study German and European history hundreds of hours to understand what happened and why.

I find it odd that they state "Comes the story of an unknown hero." I was under the assumption that most people knew who this individual was. After all, Rommel's name was brought up as being part of the plot and he was questioned on it. There are streets in Germany named after this man. Brad Davis starred in a t.v. movie years ago on the same topic. I wonder if the movie trailer will be different in Europe.

If you actually do a bit of research on the net, you'd be surprised to find that this was actually based on historical fact and it was actually called in German "Unternehmen Walküre". Translation - "Operation Valkyrie". To read more on this topic, search it in Wikipedia.

Fake accents in war movies is and always has been lame....But, Kenneth Bru..ha ha or what ever his name sounds like He's doing Shakespeare in a German Generals unifom. The only real way is like Das Boot, or The Down Fall,.. Real authenticity ...German dialog and english sub-titles.

This is a Hollywood movie....Made for an American audience.

I would love to have seen Wolfgang Petersen make this movie.

Some of you are talking about Tom speaking in an accent but think about it, in those times in Germany the Nazis and whoever mostly spoke Deutsch 99.5% of the time, not Germans speaking English with an accent. If he spoke like a German speaking English then the movie would not be accurate and may come across insulting. The movie is shown as if you are in Europe with them understanding the native Deutsch.
