Actually, her uncle gave it to her and it launched her destiny. MTV played a "joke" on her by pretending to drop and smash it while they were filming a documentary about her. It backfired when the poor girl screamed and knelt next to the smashed guitar and put her head in her hands and wept. Her handlers did not think it was funny either, and the stupid stunt created a lot of tension on the set. She has since retired the guitar and never plays it publicly.
