  • Thank you so much for posting this classic Alton Ellis tune. I have just found it and have been playing it over and over. He's has made many great songs, but I think this is his best song of all. I can really feel the pain in his voice a he's singing it. Great song and performance!!! Thank you again!!

  • So glad that you enjoyed the post. Respect.

  • Despite all we have been through we know that we are proud of who we are as a race, our children and what they will acheive in the future! Positivity is the key!

RIP Alton you are missed, for delivering lyrics such as this in a voice which is as original as yours....

  • Feeling this browning, feeling this.

One of my fav Alton tunes.

    Bless...

  • Yes lardsah, bless for the comment

  • It's hard to believe that this was the third version of "Black Man's Pride" Alton recorded as opposed to the first.

I could be wrong, but the switch of the "winner / loser" lyric gives it away.

Also, he just goes and gives it all he's got.

No doubt, Alton Ellis is the king of Rocksteady and Reggae Soul. I still miss him terribly, and will continue to love him and his music forever.

  • Thanks for the info DLC. I believe this version was from 1971. I far prefer it to some of the others, including the one on the Arise Black Man album, which didn't have the same passion to me.

Like yourself, I greatly miss Mr Ellis. He was a reggae musical icon and conducted himself as such and made a huge contribution to the genre. R.I.P

  • Believe!!!!!

  • nice black mans pride version! Big ups thanks for di post!!!!

  • My artist!! Mr Ellis you can never be forgotten.

  • Mine too. Feel for him like he was my own blood. Shed tears when he passed.

  • sista them youths dont give a dam about the struggle of our people which is a shame all they want is material things

  • It is a shame. But I stay positive because there are still many trying to do the right thing and who know that the fight isn't over yet.

  • Alton Ellis singing reality.

What do the youngsters say "selllllll offffff"

    Nice Vid as usual
