Have you ever tried to sing live in a venue that is not a recording studio? That is a feat in and of itself. It takes a whole lot of practice (the type Tim has) to come across well every time singing live. Gwyneth, great job!

she only has a little trouble at the beginning of the chorus with the harmonies.. I have a hard time with harmonies when singing duets as well.. singing with another artist throws you off because you're not sure whether to go high or low, she's not tone deaf and she can clearly hold her notes out, she has a beautiful singing voice, I think if anything it might be her nerves.. she IS an actress NOT a singer.. I think she's amazing!

Has anyone read anything whatsoever about Gwyneth Paltrow. She had vocal training. She has an amazing voice. This isn't the first movie she's sung in. She did a kick ass job with Huey Lewis in the movie "Duets". She's amazing!

She has a GORGEOUS voice and loads of control, but is nervous in front of non-actor crowds....you know live in front of strangers. Giver her a break, she's fantastic....and Tim....well...yum.

this is an extremely hard song to sing and, if you've never sung on stage before, it's very challenging anyway (to say the least). this song all by itself is a huge undertaking. lots of pitch-perfect requirements in this one.. extremely hard..

I would'nt use this performance as way to decide whether or not Paltrow can sing live. I've been playing live for years and you're not always going to pull of the very best performance for a variety of reasons. She may not have been in the best voice that night or maybe she had a hard time hearing herself through the moniter. It happens, even to singers who have been doing it alot longer than she has. I think she can sing and I've seen her do it live and pull it off just fine. Peace. : )

Tim was fantastic - as always, but Gwyneth trying to harmonise with him sounded like nails on a blackboard to me. Don't get me wrong, full marks to her for her recent performances on TV. She just didn't have the skill to pull this off live. Oh, and I absolutely agree with myra - Faith is the one who Tim is meant to sing with.

I think I figured out the solution for Gwyneth's problem harmonizing in this song live: she sings "singing" four times during the chorus. Instead of singing "singing" low like she does on the second and fourth repeats, she sound sing them about an octave higher like she does in the final chorus. that's not how it is in the studio version but it would sound miles better. She should also sing quieter or turn down or sing further away from her mic. during the chorus.

Gwyneth is a bit flakey in this. Great song and the recorded version sounds great. Tim's a natural singer. Gwyneth isn't. To be fair to her the bits that were in key sounded great and with experience she'll do well.
