i really dont think that's your hand position is the better one for clover tears
I mean : most higher you take your hand and less tears you will have, you know what i mean ? I think thaht clover tears is about arm contraction (muscle) thats making the sounds so " thick". The hand gotta be very straight and veyr close to the vinyl. (its only the way i do it)
@ CBK81, what records do you recommend, im getting started with turntabalism and i need some vinyl. what should i get for records to use besides just the old ones i can find around my attic.
I believe there is a different method to achieving q berts clovers. If the record hand starts flat and raises momentarily then returns to a flat position while moving back or forth on the record, a tear sound can be achieved. I'm on this move and will post a vid as soon as I'm semi decent at it. I can't wait to share the knowledge!
At the beginning this tut sounded like a "dodgy" way to perform a difficult movement more easlily. Now Like CBK inentive spirit to invent this flicking-thumb version of the clover tear.
beside this Q clovers are just very fast ones. he concentrates on very small movements.
I guess practice makes perfect.
As Q himself told me, he didn't learn his shit overnight!
Well I wasn't really doing them to speed, but yea I know this isn't how q is doing it. However, it can sound exactly the same and it's relatively easy to do. I am just trying to share some things with you guys.
Sure! I Give Props To You to have invented another way to do it...
I am just a Nerd and I want to learn Q ones as hell. But If I were judging a contest I wouldn't care that much about wich movement is done but what sound is comin out!
hhhahaha!!! nice one mate! I scratch on the other deck and I can ''sometimes'' to the hyper-clover tear, i must post it up but i have a shit camera. awesome vid man, next step is to get it into combos n shit.
yea for sure man, it really does help. great teacher. just analyzing all the sounds you did is tough to explain. i did practice this over the weekend and i did somthing that sounded similar but i can see the thumb thing your doing so its like my own way of doin it. PEACE
Brilliant technique- nice discovery!

It's pretty much the same sound, but you don't need to use two hands to do it.

You should do some tutorial videos of all the other scratches, you look as if you could give qbert a run for his money :-)

Well I know that q would eat me for breakfast, but yes I am going to keep doing tutorials. I'm uploading an easy 3 click flare tutorial right now.
Take care,

That's cool. I'm not trying to act as if I originated this technique, but I've never seen a tutorial for it. I hope it helps!
