@TookieCookies My parents and family also dislike anime and manga, however my many of my closest friends enjoy it and cosplay. Now, I haven't cosplayed yet, but I currently own one costume. The key is sticking to what you enjoy. My dad makes fun of me for dancing the Love and Joy dance every night, but I continue to do it because I like it. Don't let others hold you back when it comes to cosplay. ^^

@TookieCookies I was like that as well until I met people in high school (I saw them reading manga. I think I stared at them like this ---> o____o). Once you meet people it eventually branches out and you'll know a whole slew of people who like anime. I hope you've found someone! :)

I got to meet Vic Mignogna. <3 First con ever, too. And I was bored at home once, so I dressed as Fai again, and started being random...When I stepped out of my room, my Mom just sort of stared, blinked, laughed, and walked away. Then I got hugs. :3
