Dude, some of your advice isn't that good... "You've gotta be willing to sacrifice your voice."

No you don't. If you scream or growl properly you won't destroy it and you'll keep a normal voice. Just look at Byron from God Forbid, he has no problems with his voice at all. If you scream or growl (fuck pig squeals) by using your diaphragm (as if you were singing opera or normal clean vocals) and don't drink excessively or smoke, you will keep your normal voice without ever damaging it.

iv been practicing screamo for 2-3 years now and i can now do it without running out of breath/ hurting my throat. but for some reason i keep forgetting how i did it? then i keep making quieter sounds till i get it right again, i can keep doing it then. i dont think i can screamo as good as you. but i want to. i do the breathing right, i dont hurt my throat. i want to be in a band one day as a screamer but im not sure if im good enough at it? .. :p

@CrackPandaProduction Your tongue is crucial to obtaining your sound. Try moving it around while you scream as an experiment. To answer you question with the chest, it doesn't really play an important roll in this. If it doesn't hurt you, don't worry about it. It's good that you inhale with your stomach, but your range depends on how high your Adam's apple raises or lowers (raise for highs, lower for growls, relax for mid-range). Disregard my earlier comment. I figured out that my low growls were performed incorrectly. I growled in a mirror, and saw that my larynx was in the same place as when I scream high. I was able to adapt to the correct way, and I'm not so winded after growling anymore. I couldn't have made it this far without your expertise. Nor could I go from bad growls to sounding like Levi Benton and Danny Worsnop in just two weeks without it. I can't thank you enough. Keep it brutal!

I've been practicing and studying methods of screaming for not even a month, but I seem to be doing pretty well. However, after practicing today, I seem to have lost my low growl. 0__0 My mid range and high screams are unaffected though. I feel no pain, and my primary vocal cords seem to be fine as well, seeing that I NEVER let them interfere with my screams. I'm under the impression that I'm dehydrated/exhausted. But is it possible to lose something like that in just a short time?
