Hey Kristian, congrats, that's a nice lathe! 16" swing's is great. By the way, I was sensing that you must have had a carpenter in the family, like your dad or grandpa. That's awesome. You know, my dad's a carpenter too (grandpa was too) and he told me not to leave the wetstone in the water for too long. But maybe the japanese one is OK to leave in the water.
Im so jealous!!! Well done on your new lathe. You couldn't have gotten a better lathe. Have fun. What are you planning to do with you old lathe?? Maybe sell it??
That's a super lathe you have and it will last you as long as you want it to. I don't know how you guys look after metal surfaces in your workshop but my mates are engineers and they told me to wipe the lathe ways with oil every mow and then because cast iron will absorb oil and things will run freely on the bed. Maybe you don't want oil near wood...by the way, the shavings don't stick to it, you are only wiping the surface. Anyway, looking forward to seeing the lathe in action.
