  • Awesome! I love his Uchi Mata the most! I have an uchi mata as well. CHECK OUT my video on UCHI MATA!!

    It's from the US Open!

  • WHY IS THIS SO HARD.

  • His technique is so beautiful, i could shed a single tear :')

  • for a big guy he's unbelievably fast!

  • Kosei Inoue \m/

  • Great clips, think there are some people out there who could do with a bit of chilling Mr. Kano would be very unimpressed!

  • Brilliant thanks.

A 1 Dan student of mine hurt back in randori with attempting this uchimata ( oikomi )

It seems dangerous to learn here, better to study this in randori in relaxed randori like in japan!

  • Tried it today... definetely didn`t get it...

  • @UmDiaEuFicoBom takes speed and momentum

  • Have you checked with Kosei Inoue to ensure that it is OK to publish this on YouTube? It could potentially (and is maybe already)reducing the sales of his recent DVD....

  • @boredinho Well Kosei didn't object to the filming. I have bought his boxset and suggest everyone viewing these videos does as well. One of the dvds is only on Uchi-mata so these just give a quick insight to what is a great production by Fighting Films.

  • Thanks a lot for putting these up! They are jaw-droppingly good, I've been struggling with foot placement in one step uchi mata for a while and this should prove a valuable resource!

Also, to the people who say it's hane goshi or whatever... please learn your throw mechanics... If you unbalance your partner to the front, then turn around and throw him by sweeping him up between his legs that throw is uchi mata, doesn't matter if it's far or near leg, one/two steps, one/two hands... mechanics!

  • @a0classcriminal Great comment and I agree with what you are saying in regards to the hane goshi/uchimata statements people make.

  • @a0classcriminal me too

    great video

  • @a0classcriminal I was also struggling with the one foot entry, I wanted to learn it for competition since it's really hard to tell the difference between this and o-soto-gari just judging by the footwork. Turns out in the practice, his supporting leg was on the left side. In the actual throw, it was right between uke's legs, if not a little bit more to the right. The foot placement really made a lot of difference here

  • In competition people open their legs or resist and what you get is uchimata, stop talking without ever been in one. If inoue says uchimata is uchimata period

  • how u can tell its hane goshi and NOT uchi mata:

    1) hane is done on right leg, uchi = left

    2) hane done= bent leg, uchi= straight

im not discrediting kosei, like i siad this is an excellent way to do and enter hane, but its not uchi mata

  • It is uchimata.... I would love to post how hane goshi looks like... theres a big difference. Also theres alot of ways in entering uchimata, his just going in towards opponents right leg, which is the strongest way for one step entrance : Middle, left side, right side, it depends... and your legs might not be straight all the time..

  • Jesus you could not be more wrong! Watch Inoue's DVDs. Study Judo for more than 5 years. Hanegoshi has NOTHING to do with whether the leg is bent or not, although 99% it is. Uchimata can be done on the inside of either thigh, or up the middle, ie Ko, O, and Taka Uchimata. What makes Hanegoshi is a "springing hip." There is no hip spring in this throw, therefore it is Uchimata. Inoue is one of the best to ever live at Uchimata, but of course you know more about his tokuiwaza than he does....

  • @MrChickenFajita Hane Goshi has nothing to do with leg placement, and everything to do with the Springing Hip action of the throw (hence the term spring hip throw). Though this stepped input to throw makes it look like Hane Goshi, since there is no spring hip action, it is uchi-mata.

  • @strafefire Agreed. These comments that it's Hane Goshi are driving me crazy.

  • @strafefire hane uchi mata! a new technique! there ain't no hip but theres sure a spring

  • Oh yes, I'm sure we'll take your interpretation over Inoue's. Thanks for stopping by!

  • The title of video is not wrong. Sorry but Kosei Inoue named the technique not me. HE said he was demonstrating Uchi-Mata, it's Uchi-Mata on the far leg. He's the World & Olympic Champion and he speaks Japanese by the way!

  • Hey add9259net, let me just say Thank you very much for posting these video clips of Kosei. Dont mind "those others" who spend their time trying to correct you on the names of throws. I find it very humorous as I visit various sites and I always see comments left by people who try to talk like experts. The bottom line is that you have posted great videos and i appreciate it. And for the record, it is UCHIMATA. I think KOSEI is the last Judoka anyone should try to correct. Hehehe Thanks again.

  • Make it so people can't comment, it'll be for the better. Hanegoshi is THE MOST misinterpreted and poorly performed and taught technique in Judo. Everyone thinks they know what Hanegoshi is, and everyone thinks they can do one. 9/10 people can't. Hanegoshi and what Inoue is showing here are miles apart. Well, not miles, there are some similarities but this throw is 100% one step/cross step Taka/O Uchimata.

  • What is to interpret? He is saying quite clearly it is his one-step uchi-mata....in English. And I'm happy enough to take his word for it.

  • @Kalidone86 The video is fine! Watch Inoue's DVD set. Better yet, just do Judo a few years under a good teacher. It's not Inoue's fault you don't know what Hanegoshi is. I'm betting it looks terrible.

  • @WhtMike2006 I practice Ju Jitsu since 2004 and I know what is Uchi mata and what is Hane goshi. If you don't know who are you talking to, better shut up.

  • @Kalidone86 Jujitsu, not Judo. You've only been training 6 years. That's not enough time in my opinion to truly be able to tell the difference in Hanegosi and Uchimata. Don't need to be a tough guy. I don't know who I'm talking to, but you aren't gonna do anything to me. You lose a lot of credibility by threatening people on Youtube.

  • @Kalidone86 It looks like hane goshi to me too. It's still a great technique. Besides, the classical entry for Hane Goshi, Harai O-goshi and Uchi-mata are all so similar that at Inoue's level, their practically the same throw - only your reaping leg goes in a different place.

  • @Kalidone86 youre right its hane goshi ...........Dunno why video is named uchi mata

  • @MrFocusFreak This is uchimata. I have a poor hane goshi but a decent uchimata and I promise you there is a difference. I do uchimata similar to Inoue in the sense that for uchimata I attack the far leg. The mechanics of this throw is not a hip throw. For Hane Goshi it is a hip throw. Please see a demonstration of Hane Goshi by Hirano Ryosaku and you will see the differences.

  • @MrFocusFreak His uchimata is mixed with haraigoshi. He says all the time.

  • @Kalidone86 Shut you hole you don't know shit!

  • it is not necessary to offend. I've used a proper languange, not intending to offend anyone.

  • wtf is up with all the thumbs down? ur right, this isnt uchi mata but hane goshi, allthough this vid is a good way to go into hane and can b very effective

  • Watching these kinds of instruction videos is very good for inspiration & new ideas that your trainer may not think of

At least it's making me a better judoka

  • its uchi mata u moron

  • I felt like I wanna do Judo again.

  • is this how he threw nicolas gill? im not talking about what throw he used, im talking specifically about the "one -step" variation

  • Yes I believe it is. He uses this version against left handed opponents.

  • @corismsyn Yes it is. On the DVD set he goes through the throw on Gill from multiple angles after showing the one-step Uchimata.

  • @corismsyn when he threw gill he feinted with o uchi gari first, causing gill to brace ever so slightly. he then followed it straight up with uchi mata. im not sure if it was the one step entry or not.

  • @Grove2000 It was. He feinted O-Uchi, then flew in with the on-step or Tobi-Komi Uchimata.
