  • It is a misinterpretation by lazy teachers in the west to say ujjayi should be loud. No one beyond your mat should hear it.

  • @gonzolama I disagree. Sometimes when I get it going it is quite loud.

  • Is it similar to Ibuki breathing in karate?

  • Nope, this is not the correct technique. Search for ujjayi pranayama by Baba Ramdev.

  • Great tutorial! Thank you.

  • This is very useful - it would be helpful to be able to get this on a cd - is there one available?

  • I have not made CDs I'm afraid. The recording is here and on my website. I am happy you are enjoying it. There's probably a way for you to get it onto a CD, but I'm not exactly sure myself how to do it..

  • @omcasey1 ya it

  • Is it more important to focus on a smooth steady breath or to try and produce a louder breath? My breath is not very loud at this point. Also, I am much more comfortable practicing this with my mouth closed - I can still feel the movement in my throat but the back of my throat doesn't dry out with my mouth closed. Is this ok?

A very helpful video - thank you for posting it!! Best wishes to you!

  • It is important to keep your awareness with the breath -just keeping your awareness with the breath will micro-adjust you into the most perfect and beautiful flow. At times the breath will be more audible, at times less audible, there is no right or wrong, only what is aligned with you in each moment, have fun experiencing what this is. The open mouth technique is for the absolute beginner, yet the idea here is moving toward a closed mouth. Bravo if you are already arrived!

  • isn''t it because ur mind can concentrate onn only "ONE" thing. the longer it stays at one place the more it comes under control. and breathing keeps it relaxed hence the combination. also through breath people have unlocked secrets of the body and our connection to the outside world!! thank you for the video once again. i listen to shiva rea's music cds while doing relaxation etc. its beautiful really.

  • i think its about finding the right pace.

the most comfirtable pace. the most natural and a pace where the breath is not forced at all. at that pace a comfirt starts spreading throughout the body. the most relaxed state. thats the point. thank you.

  • All of this sounds really good, kwantumspin. I am enjoying your enjoyment . . Casey.

  • only when i relax i become aware i was so stiff and stressed!!! so cool.

everyone should do this before going to bed to get good sleep.

    very nice

  • An excellent idea, can you imagine the world were it so! I am enjoying your replies, kwantumspin, thank you for being well. With love..

  • best ujjayi video. i have heard it and practiced it so many time that the moment i start listening to it i start experiencing pulsations over various chakras, :D

    nice!!!

  • This is very, VERY good to hear! Thank you for taking a moment to express this, I'm smiling from ear to ear. With love, Casey.

  • thank you! :)

  • It's so funny to hear your voice again, you sound different... have you been taking voice lessons, or just settled into a deeper you ;-)

  • hahahaha.. Same ol' voice as far as I know! It does resonate deeper when I'm focused, serious, or channeling. For these audios I was sitting in an empty room, Erich's yoga room, talking into a voice recorder. Not easy! Live in class would have been far more natural. It's good to see you here, Scott . . really good . .

  • LOL, it's funny who you meet in these places ;-)

  • Scott!, helloooo . .

  • i think i'm getting to the point...=)

but, when i inhale, i must expand my chest or my stomach?

  • When Ujjayi is practiced in this way, with the focus on sound, it is a soft breath.. Relax e v e r y w h e r e --as you inhale see what naturally expands . . e v e r y t h i n g expands . . Picture a radiant sun at your heart, extending itself evenly in all directions as you breathe -as you breathe evenly into the front AND back body. Enjoy the way this feels.

    Casey
