I just remember Friday Nights at the Paradise Garage..Would get off the train at King Street at 2AM to get in, just about the time Larry would take over the booth and we'd be rocking to 11am Saturday...All through the night we'd be sipping on that "Punch" or eating sliced oranges until breakfast was served at 7am...There will NEVER be such an atmosphere again in NYC or anywhere else for that matter, though many have tried....
@jfggeorge I live in New York and I passed by this garage on more than quite a few occasions just going about my business, until one day I look at it and realized OMG this is "THE GARAGE" that I've read so many comments about here on youtube. It sickens me to know that now it houses Verizon(what a waste).I missed out because when the garage was in its heyday I was a little to young and quite shy to go out and 'party".D atmosphere has changed 4 D WORST! NY IS ALL ABOUT $ NOW! SO SAD!!!
Art Of Noise - Moment In Love + Peech Boys - Don't Make Me Wait =
Summer Junkies - I'm Gonna Love You !!!!
From the depths of NYC from Bronx from Queens till London's East End till Brixton till
the Suburbs Of Paris and all Urban Ghettos From any Metropolis Of the World , Those pioneer djs with the likes of Larry Levan from the Paradise Garage and music geniuses like The Art Of Noise who were way ahead of their time kept the Underground alive !!
@DREECHAS1 Thank you!! I've been searching for that song for 3 years!! SUMMER JUNKIES! I've been googling, searching all kinds of sites, engines, channels, cd covers. always getting closer and closer but never finding those keywords. Then finally, as I was about to give up again, i come across your post with the equation: Art Of Noise - Moment In Love + Peech Boys - Don't Make Me Wait = Summer Junkies - I'm Gonna Love You ! ...and i was like, "That's it!! That's it!!" mucho mucho gracias.
@BXspecial I grew up on this music wasn't there a station called WKTU fm 92 with Paco latino dj host back in the day ..shiiii That memory is stuck in my mind forever - went from the Bronx to Oakland...
This was an overworked Jam in N.Y.C. Clubs!!!!!!.....when this was dropped on the turntable...we beat feet to get to the dance floor!!!!! Don't make me wait....not another night!
@DerrickGladmon Thank you for the awesome upload. Deep and Clean Bass Indeed!!!
Man this is 84 King St...Proper....I remember when Larry dropped this...it had the deepest clean sounding Bass I have Ever heard in my life...A shame most of the mixes on the market don't really let people know what Larry was doing...he was going insane...playing 3 different songs making his own beat with it...put a accapella on it...all on Thorens...not 1200's...with live drums vs. drum loops that was my Boy Larry Levan...Peace & Love
Thanks for writing. That type of 'work' by DJs is nearly a lost art,.. I appreciated hearing any and all accounts on LL and others from that day.. I am thankful to have had my own 80s schoolin, elsewhere.. further south. :)
Ive been looking for this forever im 45 finally dammit!!! NYc the garage, roseland fun house and any place in the city that was happening you people know what Im talking hell yeah!!!! Damm Man Im home again yes!!!
THIS IS ONE OF THE HOTTEST DANCE SONGS EVER...I WAS A LITTLE TOO YOUNG FOR THE GARAGE BUT I WAS A SOUND FACTORY HEAD WHEN I WAS 15 YEARS OLD...AND I HEARD SOME OF LARRY LEVANS MIXES FROM BACK IN THE DAY SOME ONE I KNEW HAD SOME TAPES. AND HE IS STILL UNTOUCHED TO THIS PRESENT DAY...
Tidal Wave of a underground hit. This shit was HUGE!, when it was released in 1980 (correct me if Im wrong-it's been a while) It was the signature track for the Paradise Garage back in the days and is still a classic Garage Anthem.
@pluggedin2u This was actually written with the Garage "Richard Long & Assoc." sound system in mind...those three throbbing Bass notes could change your life...and the NYC Peech Boys where the first act signed on the Paradise Garage Label (if I'm not mistaken) so they where "OUR" Group...the accapella is still the #1 choice mine....Peace & Love
@TheRhythmAlchemist I totally agree the acapella version was off the charts. Do you have the Acapella version? I can't find it on the TUBE please post it if you do. Send me a message if you do. Thanks.
