She is American but.... she was raised in London from age 2 to either 11 or 12 so she has a natural English accent. she says when she gets around people with an English accent it just comes out naturally she doesn't even realize she is doing it. after all it was her first accent. so the American accent was the learned one not the English accent. I love the accent myself.

Gillian is technically american,as she was born there. but she moved to england when she was 2 and then went back to america when she was around 11, and then came back here when the x files was finished.

Technically, she's American, but lived in the UK from about age 2 till 11 (I think part of it was because her dad was in film school there?) and then moved back the US.

And she's American in the new movie...Scully is from Annapolis, Maryland, so of course she's American :) (although Scully does NOT have a Maryland accent.)
