  • thanks for the help im 13 and do cartoons lots of the time but i enjoyed this

  • hey i dont really get how u did the rivers on the mountain like do u make it darker just to make it look more standing out.. like more realistic?

  • hey tyler, i am 13 years old and live in wv. I love the videos you make they really inspire me to draw and to learn how to draw. once again thanx.

  • hey Tyler.what kind of paper is that and where do you get it......

  • @marco82362 Oh, this was done in my hard bound sketch book. I wouldn't recommend getting the one that I am using in this video. Normally, hard bound sketch books have very thin sketch paper in them. I would recommend 2 things. 1: Any (drawing) quality paper will work out just fine. The second is a hard bound drawing sketch book. They are a bit harder to find. Drawing paper can be found at any local craft store.

  • Your tutorials really help!!! You inspire me and if it wasn't for you I probably wouldn't be an artist. Also I have a question. All I have ever done is draw mountains and I want to draw plains and other landscapes but I am confused as where to start. Do you have any tips?

  • @TheParanormalInc 9 times out of 10, I start the landscape with just a horizon line outlining the mountains/ hills. Then I spend the time to fill in the sky. After the sky is done, I work my way down the page. The mountains/ hills are next, then a lake or just a field of grass, then ill draw some foreground trees, bushes. Work from the top of the page to the bottom or the furthest objects to the closest.

  • @TheParanormalInc

The detailed step-by-step-instructions were a major plus. Thank you

  • Super helpful but when I do it the right side (The side in the light) it just doesn't look natural. I don't know how to make it look right "/

My art teacher thought they were perfect but she doesn't know much. Haha.

  • You can post your art on devinArt ^^

  • good video !!

  • Amazing! :)

  • Very nice guide. It helped me to better my art skills.

    Thank you :)

  • Great tutorial I love it keep up the good work.

  • I thought i was the only one who used a mechanical pencil for shading...

  • you're very good. ive pretty much mastered drawing people and now i want to draw landscaps and other things such as plants and some animals ( that i havent already learned) so i subbed you thanks for the awsome videos.

  • your teaching methods are great, I piked it up very quickly and i can draw mountains almost as well as you now!

  • you explain it so well! I'm going to subscribe now

  • wow that looks great and your tutorials really help :)

    and i have 2 questions:

1.) is it easier to draw this mountains with a mechanical penic than with a normal one.. or was the mechanical just the first pencil you found to draw with ^^

2.) can you explain the different shading techniques and tell us where (at which parts of drawings) to use them?

looking forward to more of your awesome tutorials :)

  • @Champo0 1.) I prefer to use mechanical pencil because of the grip on it. Also you can add much more detail and never have to sharpen them. I also do use regular pencils.

2.)well, in the video I kinda show what im doing by pointing out the light source and explaining where the shading would be on the mountains. Ill most likely make another tutorial on mountains since this video is getting pretty high view amounts.

  • @TylersArtShack i love the video its very helpful, and your right about the hatching but there is a spot i did some cross hatching, myself and it looks pretty good to be honest.

  • THANKS!!! My so called "friend", yeah right like he's my friend, said that if I drew a picture of a deer for him he'd give me a dollar , so of course I did it, and now I have realistic mountains!

  • i want to try this right now, but i lost my led pencil in class, and i dont have n e good normal pencils D: if we chiiiiil today ill try it out at ur house or smtn... if im not playing Battlefield lol

  • @RyanCranberries Hahaa, don't worry, I have a mountain of pencils.

  • hey man,

glad to see more tutorials from you:D this one is really helpful so thank you:) (most of the time i draw things out of my head so it looks more like a challenge i love challenges:P) oh by the way, did you have a nice christmas?

  • @skippman84 Hey thanks for the comment, and yes I did have a good Christians, How was yours?

  • @TylersArtShack nice i saw my cousin finally about like 5 years:D:D:D by the way i never know christians is english for christmas too O_o

  • Good tutorial one question do u try to include bounce light in your drawings?

  • @b41ny1 Like reflected light? I find it difficult to incorporate that into drawings. You need a really good reference image to do it.

  • Very good video tutorial, I did learn a lot. Could you blend some if you see your lines are very noticeable? I know on the lighter side you want to see some lines to show contour but what about the dark side? Or am I jumping ahead? Thanks

  • @henrycems Yes you could, but it does depend on what type of mountains you are drawing. If you are drawing rocky mountains, you want to leave the line very rough to indicate that the surface is broken up. On the dark side of the mountain, you can go as dark as you wish. I find that if you make it really dark, it gives the picture much more character. Same with the lighter side, if you darken it up a little bit, it shows that the drawing is later in the day and starts to look like a sunset.

  • Thanks a lot this helped me a lot

  • @guitarheronerd100 Thank you, I am happy to have helped you!
