Montoya was a great passer. also one of the best qualifiers. That one year was back and forth between Montoya and Michael Schumacher. And Ralph couldn't hardly even touch Montoya in qualifying.
It's the 2002 Grand Prix at Hockenhiem. Not 2001 because of old track + Kimi was in a Sauber In 01'. It's not 2003, because Raikkonen crashed out on lap one + Montoya led every lap in 2003 race. It's 2002.
@IINEZZAII yeah man..read the news..i hope he can get another title..would be epic to see him race against alonso and shumacher like the good old times
I don't mean this in any disrespect, but unless Williams change the car dramatically next year it won't be competing with Mercedes and definitely not Ferrari, unfortunately.
F1 in the 90 and beginning from 2000 was way better. Nowadays to many Rulechanging shit srsly fucks this sport ! If they don't stop, in a few Years it will be dead.
@Christoffski To be honest I see no correlation just considering the average career of drivers. In fact when I consider this period (last 15 years) obviously I mostly mean the period after Ayrton Senna. Without the accident Bellof ,( surely a grest driver )anyway would had 't been among drivers of the last 15 years because very much probably he would had retire before .Anyway it would be great to have a time machine and see drivers like Senna ,Bellof and Montoya running in the same race.
A clear illustration on the statement that something is SERIOUSLY wrong in F1 - two great guys are now gone from it, running in NASCAR series now. Respect, JPM, you can overtake yourself.
If this is Hockenheim Then I think this 02 not 03. In 03 there was shunt at the start caused by Ralph Schumacher that collected Kimi. Reguardless though as always with the Kimster...just great driving pure.
He pushed kimi off the track not fair ....KIMI IS THE BEST FUCKING MEN ON EARTH A LEGEND <3333333333333333333333333 COME BACK KIMI YOU ARE MY HERO !<3 i miss drivers like this who don't give a shit what anyon thinks like kimi and montoya also!
@MotorsportUK2009 Heidfeld did those great double passes in Silverstone 2008, so he does take risks but he still seems to lack the spark of drivers like Raikkonen, Alonso, Schumacher, Kubica or Hamilton.
@ohargreaves, i just dont feel hes willing to sometimes do some crazy dive down the inside, but for sure im not saying hes a bad F1 driver, far from it, he has some of the best consistency in F1 but i always felt hes suited to development of the car rather than championship contender, he always gave the team fantastic feed back and they could count on him for solid, but not spectacular results. He deserves a seat at a smaller team he could do wonders for development and hes worth the price tag
Was confused why watching it Live when I was 11, and still am now; as to why Raikkonen felt the need to take such an extreme defensive line into the Mercedes-Benz corner. Lost him momentum for the rest of the duel's duration, and gave Montoya perfect opportunities to duck-and-cut around him and seize the initiative.
Never mind though, a fantastic battle all the same.
@FRFM00 Why this was just as impressive to watch when youre a Kimi fan. Remember it takes two to overtake, both drove really well, fought hard but fair.
Montoya is surely the most talented driver of the last 15 years. He has won everywhere and has been a top driver in every field of motorsport.
It 's even absurd to compare a disaster like Rakkionen with the most natural talented driver of the last 15 years. Montoya obviously simply eat Raikkonen ,it's simply a sort of breakfast like every time they have been wheel to wheel.
Ahh! Certain users are brieding from the scar,oh well how enjoyble i found this video clip and with certain irony their "comments".The truth prevails MONTOYEAH.

@mgarofano this is the German Grand Prix 2002 you have to remember that. The Mclaren car was not good and Raikkonen just joined Mclaren that year so he had to adapt to a new team. And the MP4-17 (the car Mclaren used that year) was so unreliable. During this race Raikkonen had some problems already with the rear wing so yes...get your facts right
@benjaminhehe Sorry, but honestly the only fact is that Raikkonen under pression did the worse mistake in F! and car races , during the duel he leaves to Montoya what Montoya is hardly looking for ....the inside line ,that's all.
Really thanks, you know,Montoya is surely the most talented driver of the last 15 years it's simply absurd to compare him with a disaster driver like Rakkinen in every occasion Montoya and Rakkinen have been wheel to wheel Montoya simply outclassed Rakkinen everytime and therefore.....let's repet the concept FOR A SO NATURAL TALENTED DRIVER LIKE JUAN MONTOYA A " driver " LIKE RAKKINEN IS SIMPLY A SORT OF BREAKFAST.

You make yourself look like an fool... If you think JPM is better and more talented than Kimi, it says you dont know too much about motorsports. Montoya is really average driver, nothing like Kimi. I bet you are stupid yankee and nascar fan?
Montoya was very fair, in the motodrom corner he could move more to the left but he runs over the curb on the inside letting a lot of space to Kimi which in fact nearly could hold the position. it was very close before Sachs corner. excellent battle, nice to watch.
@MattA1GP true, true... i miss Montoya in f1... he was the most interesting to watch driver and imo the only driver who wasnt afraid to pressure schumi.
@Rethgore Yes, it'st more fascinating to observe time gaps between drivers rather than watch them constantly battle in a pack. It's also definitely more exciting to watch drivers stuck one after another until pitstops, rather than watch them battle 3-wide on an oval.
But it's best to enjoy all kind of racing and better yet - to understand all kind of racing. Why can't you?
he will never be back in F1 ... i miss him for such a action ... or how he kicked Michael in Brazil 2001 ... he prove that YOU CAN orvertake with F1 car and you dont have to "modfie" them or something like that
Montoya thinking damn im not gonna overtake this guy fair he is just too good... hmm i think i just push him on the grass lets see if i can take him this way
by the way im not a JPM hater but this guy made things... haha i should hate him :D
Kimi barely let him back on the track when jpm went to pass and montoyas move is clean. he took away the line so kimi couldn't re pass him next corner. It's fair it's racing.
montoya may be a goood driver but hes proberly one of the most hot headed driverd as well being stupid considing he went to nas car which is proberly the dullist sports and eastist on the drivers in the world i mean you get 50 year old drivers in nas car well montoya couldn't win f1 so he had go to nas car the retarded red deck cousin of all motor sport what a waste of talent
all you the prostitute's mother that gave birth to them dead children are they don't know anything about f1 montoya he/she is a great pilot who went layers of challenging to chumi the montoya you are the best dog children they don't know anything
Totally agree with FRFM00 , As usual Montoya outclass Rakkinen as well as in all the occasions when they have been wheel to wheel .For people that really understand something about races it's even impossible to compare a so natural talented driver like Montoya with a simple driver like Rakkinen (the wall driver) even Massa is continuosly faster and better than Rakkinen and that's why Alonso is coming to replace the disaster. .
actually iam a huge raikkonen fan but i don think hes the best driver in the world. but i really think he is a very very fast driver when u give him the right car and team just like in 2007.
"Everytime they fought on track Montoya wins" ah...Typical from Montoya´s fans: inventing stats. Seems like somebody can´t remember Hungary 2002, Hungary´s 2005 first lap, USA 2003... Puaf, I can´t understand why someone who hasn´t watched races dares to talk about the subject. It is embarrassing to read some comments...
Well, if you consider that a "popular video on youtube" means a successful career, you don´t deserve much attention. You should watch actual races from early 2000´s, and you wouldn´t write that funny stuff. Stop moaning about 10 years ago failures, which you haven´t even pay attention to.
It seems to me that with Kimi coming back f1 will be a hell of a lot better!

Totally agree with FRFM00 , As usual Montoya outclass Rakkinen as well as in all the occasions when they have been wheel to wheel .For people that really understand something about races it's even impossible to compare a so natural talented driver like Montoya with a simple driver like Rakkinen (the wall driver) even Massa is continuosly faster and better than Rakkinen and that's why Alonso is coming to replace the disaster. .

yeah yeah, just how could raikkonen than become a world champion while massa and montoya never did... smart ass

All Raikkonen fans think Raikks the best driver in the world ever. You're all delusional.

actually iam a huge raikkonen fan but i don think hes the best driver in the world. but i really think he is a very very fast driver when u give him the right car and team just like in 2007.
Hadidi89 2 years ago
Nope, I don`t think so. But I still like Kimi, as a driver.

It is embarrassing to read some comments...

yes, Montoya gave fun to these races!!

Anyway.
Montoya beat Raikkonen so well here that its one of the most popular F1 videos on youtube.
Deal with it.
FRFM00 2 years ago
Well, if you consider that a "popular video on youtube" means a successful career, you don´t deserve much attention. You should watch actual races from early 2000´s, and you wouldn´t write that funny stuff. Stop moaning about 10 years ago failures, which you haven´t even pay attention to.
mgarofanosmind 2 years ago
I will not consider anything. It was not funny either. I am not moaning.
This is great footage. The kind of racing you moan for.
Deal with it.

Some people say Kimi is better then Montoya.
But every time they battled on track... Montoya won.
Fact.
