  • Thanks for taking the time to make this. Changed my battery and reset everything in less than 5 minutes.

  • Thanks!!! this helps...

  • thanks alot bro you were very helpfull thanks alot bro

  • thanks for the video!!

  • To remove the battery seal cover, push down on the word "TOP" ... per manual. Otherwise, video is good. :)

  • Good video... The only comment I would make is that I would position the transmitter on the front side of the right fork, so that if the transmitter ever gets too close to the spokes it will simply push it away as the wheel turns, as opposed to potentially ripping the transmitter off... And I also opt'd to install the transmitter up high on the fork keeping it as close as possible to the head unit and as far as possible away from the road and dirt.... that's how I installed mine... works great!

  • Great post, really helped me! By the way you should measure your actual wheel circumference rather than just reading it off a chart. Lay a tape measure out and align the valve of your front wheel at 0mm. Sit on the bike and push it forward until the valve reaches the bottom again. This is your measurement. The wheel circumference is affected by your weight and tyre pressure as well as the wheel and tyre size.

  • Thanks for posting this! It was useful for me.

  • i love u. :D

  • Don't ever remove this video!!!! Thank you! This computer was a total mystery to me until today. Thank you thank you thank you.

  • Thanks for this video. Most appreciated.

  • Hey Earnie, Hey Bert. lol

thanks for the video man, i just wanted to see this model in action and couldnt find it anywhere. thanks again

  • Great video, explained well, thank you!

  • thank you ..this was driving me CRAZY!

  • CR 2032 batteries are a very common/popular size for many applications - I'd recommend buying a packet of 5 or 10 on Amazon or eBay... cheap! WAY cheaper than going to your local "watch store" in the mall. And then you'll have them handy for doing your next project too.

  • Thanks friend, helped me a bunch!

FYI: Using a razor blade on the batter cover in the computer worked pretty well, you just have to dig in then pry.

  • to fiddly, needs setting on front end

  • I have had the Strada Double Wireless since last summer. Just like this model only with cadence included. Once set up it has been the easiest and most useful cyclometer I've ever used.

  • Great vid thanks, especially the bit about re-entering your previous miles, i was gutted when i thought i'd lost my mileage!

For wheel size chart and original instructions (for printing out) go to:

    .cateye.com/sites/cateye/upload/manuals/en/CC-RD300W_ENG+v3.pdf

    Regards, Andy

  • The manual says to push on the batter cover with a finger. While that wasn't intuitive it was easy and beats prying it with a screwdriver.

  • Great video. Thanks!

  • @iraaado All my computers die for one reason or another... The Cateye Astrale 8 seems to be a wired version of a computer I also have which has worked fine. I don't like having to hit two buttons to reset it, but other than that, it's a great computer.

  • Thanks, I've never had this much trouble changing a battery. Most appreciated.

  • gah. this thing was so hard to get of. thanks for posting, seriously.

  • r u happy with this brand or would u buy a different one, based on what you know about the cateye? XCELLENT post

  • @chrospoke Yes - I like this computer very much, easy to use, numbers are easy to read and it hasn't died yet and I've had it several years now.

  • @chrospoke i just bought and installed it. a bit ghetto, but it works, couldn't put it on my Jamis, it wont mount to the fancy shaped chainstay in such a way where it would read both cadence and speed. the cadence magnet is a pain it the arse to install as you need to have it almost touching the sensor, which is hard to do considering everything mounts to the bike using zip-ties. But, after considerable fiddling around, i did get it to work, and well...it works..on a trek 7.5 disc(if that helps)

  • THANK YOU for posting this! Until I watched this, I couldn't figure out how to change the time of day after changing the battery.

BTW, I used a small knife to pry out the battery cover, which seemed to work better than using a small screwdriver.

  • Brad: Thanks for the video, i just got one for christmas and your video was what I needed! Edgard PRVIRTUALT, Puerto Rico

  • Thanks, I knew it had to be on here.

  • Thanks for posting this! Very helpful for getting to the battery without shredding the casing.

I just replaced my battery after about 2000 miles. One suggestion on battery life is to move the wireless transmitter up the fork a bit.

That way, it's closer to the computer ~and~ because the magnet is now further from the axis of the wheel, it's hitting the transmitter less frequently.

  • Thanks for making this video, I was just fighting with the battery cover for all of this morning until I remember youtube! Sure enough I found your video. thanks!

  • This is fantastic. Thanks!

  • Just a reminder. Don't always go by the default or recommended wheel size in the instructions. The recommended one was off by about 40-50 after I did a a full wheel roll-out and measured it. I would always recommend rolling the wheel and measuring it from start to finish (in mm).

  • thank you

  • Thanks, this is one of the more difficult Bike Computers to set and I had the wrong tire size too.

  • One tip: instead of trying to pry the battery cover...simply push down on one edge, usually just using your finger, and the other side will pop up a bit. Cateye has the manuals online in the event you need them.

  • thanks man really thank u so friggin much grabbed one today and cudnt set the time but now i did THANK YOU happy biking

  • really apprecaite you doing this !

  • p.s you should not touch the battery with your fingers because you make her life smaller...

    nice video

  • I bought this computer and put it on my MTN bike but it would not pick up the magnet so had to return it. I could not get the magnet close enough to the sensor and per the directions you need to be a hairs width between the magnet and sensor. I do not see how that is possible on a mtn bike.

  • I had the same problem with another brand, the recommended gap was 2-5mm, I can't seem to get it any closer than 10mm on the MTN bike.

  • i have this and i love it! theres a new cat eye double wirless strada from rei. But its $100! i love this computer and your video is very helpful thankyou!

  • very informative. thanx for the vid

  • alright thanks a lot! definately getting this.

  • i just bought one of these

  • im thinking of getting this. how do you like it?

  • yeh really good easy to use and set up, deffo recomend this mate
