  • GOOD VID. I BEEN USING EXAUST SPACERS FOR YEARS. ITS A CHEAP WAY TO GET THAT SOUND U WANT. LIKE( KYLESTER818) SAID ONLY DOWNSIDE IS U MAY LOSE A LIL BOTTOM OR TOP END, DEPENDS ON THE CAR YOUR USING IT ON. ITS ALMOST LIKE HAVING EXAUST CUTOUTS, THE ONLY DIFF IS YOUR JUST MAKING A GAP INSTEAD OF RUNNING OPEN EXAUST:) KEEP IN MIND , IF U LOSE BOTTOM END U GAIN IT ON THE TOP, VICE VERSE.

  • Is there any set size of washers you used for that?

  • I used to have my exhaust like this for a year. Never had a single problem

  • pretty ghetto, i hope you really did take the washers back out lol

  • lol...better than stock

  • incase you guys are to stupid to read, my exhaust isn't like this. i put the spacers in only for the video to show how dank a wrx's engine sounds raw

  • Dank......yeah. Ummm....yes, boxer engines are great sounding engines.(proud owner of a 2010, 5 door premium) However, "raw" would be spacers at the turboback, or no exhaust at all. I'm not trying to be a hater here, but can't you see how this looks to people? You say you put the spacers on just for the video, but honestly, how long after filming it did you wait to take them off??? Be honest. lol Awesome car though!

  • I hate you. I wish I got the 5 door. Want to trade? :)

  • @moredotsmore haha they're both sick, i wanted the 5 door because it's a little more flexible with trunk space but the 4 doors have a sick dual exhaust. ill keep mine though thanks :]

  • @BLURCEG haha thank you, i drove around for a day or two loving the note but this summer, i put a borla on it

  • @BLURCEG haha thank you, i drove around for a couple days but after saving up some money, i put a borla in in the beginning of june

  • @kylester816 u shud have put the gymkhana exhaust in instead

  • lol at "dank" SOUNDING engine.

    someones an American Stoner ;)

  • @kylester816 dude that sounds sweet............does this damage ur exhaust at all cause im thinking of doing it to mine.

  • @rampagehockey21 it doesnt damage it at all, but you'll notice a little less boost from the turbo's past 4-5000 rpm. atleast that's what i noticed when i ran mine like this

  • Sounds like a ol beater with a bad muffler. Save the money and get a good xhaust.

  • pretty ridiculous. I wonder if there's a ECU map for that mod? lol

  • just take off the muffler you just have unnecessary weight sic\nce the muffler isnt doing its job anymore

  • Comment removed

  • damage your cams? Yea, kyle. If you don't wear your seat belt then your windshield might begin to leak

  • @massdrewski haha thank you

  • i put spacer on my wrx and it sounds better than a tubo back and a cat back so im down with $ .48 instead of $ 7.00

  • Wow, Spacing it like that in no way damages your car. The exhaust is behind the engine, and if anything decreases backflow. So I would think it would be better.

  • orrrr buy an exhaust system???

  • Nice video. For all you haters out there, I'm sure his WRX isn't cruising around with them spacers. Chances are he just made this video to show how it would sound like with just a few washers between the flanges.

  • sure...

i dunno what the deal is with all these subie dudes doing these ghetto mods to their cars

  • Do yourself a favor and bolt that back up, gaps like that are what you want to avoid. I wouldnt be surprised if that voided your warranty.

  • @RB280z haha void my warranty? subaru loves to let people play around with their cars. they would laugh at the suggestion that shit should void the warranty. the only thing it does is make it illegal to drive on the street because your air is leaving your engine untreated as opposed to through the muffler. the turbo requires backpressure to fully maintain function so when you drive with the exhaust like this, you'll lose the slightest edge in top end full-boosted torque but thats it!

  • nice way to damage your cams

  • huh?

  • hey if ur really bored one day just loosen ur bolts on the down pipe and start it up its so loud

  • buck up for a 3" CB like my 09

  • lol wtf is everyone getting mad for? I understand shits bad, but damn, no need to be angry.. LOL funny shit and besides the parts havent even been made yet for the 09 unless you're using universal parts from other companies.

  • i thought i saw it all. wooooow

  • if you put in metal washers, nothing will melt. it just sounds nice but you are losing performance by doing this. i recommend getting an exhaust system if you want your car to sound nice

  • this is a bad idea, not to sound like a douche or anything but like already mentioned you are disturbing back pressure and will almost certainly through a code at some point. i know you took it out already but the best thing to do is save up and buy an exhaust system, i personally went with megan racing which was extremely cheap in price and great quality and fitment

  • I don't know if I should do this or not. My main concern is the flanges melting... Would that really happen?

  • Actually, by putting the washers in, you had CREATED backpressure by disturbing the airflow ever so slightly. Most likely even minimally to the point where it would be undetected. Most of you seem to forget that it's a turbocharged engine. The lass backpressue, the better. I suggest reading 'Maximum Boost' by Corky Bell. You'll understand better.

  • i get it, thanks man, ill look into the book. im still trying to figure out all the workings of the turbo

  • This was just plain stupid, if you drive around like this for too long you will warp the flange and it will not mate up correctly to the OE muffler or an aftermarket.

  • oh yeah, i didnt do this performance (it actually hurts that) but to demonstrate that basically anything that opens up the exhaust more will really bring out the boxor engine's amazing sound. yeah i took out the spacers already. it takes away from the blow back pressure and it'll probably fuck up ur cat a bit if u leave it for too long. plus ur loosing precious turbo pressure. it just sounds nice. if u really want the performance and the sound, ur much better off getting an exhaust system.

  • @kylester816 Dude, loosing turbo pressure?? You want as little as possible. You could have a turbo and run open headers or a 5'' exhaust and be fine

  • @Zdrummer45 lol the turbo needs back pressure to fully function. they tune them to run with the muffler still connected so if you are still running it like this, you're not maximizing your turbo boost

  • i hate the sound of the exhaust blowing, jsut buy new back box lol cheap skate

  • you might as well run it without the muffler...

  • exactly, dont want to be a dick but you basically have an exhuast leak which makes the sound, also your gaskets will melt eventually.

same thing happened to my Prelude but not by choice, made the same sound.

  • it aint worth it bro.. get rid of em. you gon fuck something up sooner or later.

  • this is call exhaust leak dude

it might sound good but will sure lower your car's performance
