I found the movie highly offensive at first but when I watched Ali G, Bruno and other Sasha Baron Cohen's movies and shows I changed my opinion. He doesn't want to make fun of Kazakhstan or any other country. He is making fun of silly and naive people who live in their small worlds believing in stereotypes.

I went to live abroad where I met a lot of russian people and a few kazakhs and 90% of russians told me mean things about kazakhs (stereotypes and so on, like you said). And I didn't enjoy it because the kazakhs became my friends and all I heard about them form russians was totally false)

I've never been to USA but I've read almost every comment on Borat videos. Most people watch these videos as a comedy as they understand that everything pictured here is not true.
