I remember my family being somewhat UNDER-whelmed at the size of the mansion. Most home now in a yuppie area are bigger. Also, the landscaping was really shoddy and embarrassing. Like they were letting the place die. This was in '86.
Elvis could not go as often as we do so he brought vivid colors into Graceland to break some of the mundaneness of having to stay in. So now you know why some of the decor looks a little OTT!

I was at Graceland in 1978.
Back then, only the driveway and Meditation Garden were open to the public.
There was no plane across the street either.
It was a mob scene with people everywhere.
Elvis' father Vernon was in the back of a Limo that drove through the gates.
It was early that October day and I was the first in line after driving all night from Birmingham, Alabama to see the home of Elvis Presley .
How cool was that?

The house looks great, but some of the decor, (pool room to be exact,) is just OTT. But if that's what Elvis loved then who am I to argue.
