I've noticed that it seems to be a fad to hate America these days among my geeneration. I've never understood that. I've always loved this nation and what it stands for, even when I didn't know the history of the country. When I learned the history behind my home, it made me love it even more. We made mistakes and are still making mistakes to this day, but we do our best to right those mistakes. That's all anyone can hope for: to fix those mistakes.

Whether the Waylon Jennings who sings this great song is your cousin or not (I suspect not or you would know better) is irrelevant.
The lyrics don’t relate to your premise in ANY way at all. Waylon himself wrote of this song: "It was talking about the ideals we had fought for and the blunders committed in their name and the honor that lay behind our national character.”
This is about a country that God has ALREADY BLESSED, not one that needs to meet YOUR personal “seal of approval.”
