I used to play a game called Rune and it was great for hack and slash online gameplay. This game looks like it could have some epic siege battles
try the game called RYL. it has the same battle system, the best i have ever seen. far more enjoyable than wow, guild wars, lotr online or anything else. people dont usually know about this game, but it rules. even the magic looks way more powerful because of the animations :) check some gameplay on youtube

Raids, laughable at the moment. BG's and arena is what killed WOW pvp. Some of the dungeons are ok, but the raiding instances? I know grinding is part of the mmo experience, but the WoW rep grind for example, same shit over and over again.
Most players i know who have quit, quit because they just can't find a reason to play no more. Not because they don't want to, they're just bored of the game!

The Darkfall landmass is much larger then wow, and is meant to accomodate 10 thousand concurrant users. even wow private servers rarely has more then a few hundred players in them
So u can choose, play commenrcial with 10 thousand people or private with 200.

From what I've heard, Darkfall seems like a really cool game, and if we should believe Swornvendetta and the grapichs are going to beimproved (Which, in this video needs alot of improvement in my opinion), this game would be a must-try.

omfg you ppl do realise that your commenting on a game based on this video which was posted 1 year ago and was still in beta testing and still is in beta testing. Of course the graphics are finihed yet and neither are the animations and such the whole point of beta testing is to see if the servers will crash with the current setting of the game that company is producing as beta continues there graphics and animations will improve.
Meh, just let the retards talk about shit. They will have WoW with gear based gameplay and nothing to do when they max level. We on the other hand will have fun exploring non-linear dungeons, building/conquering empires, full loot/pvp, sandbox-style gameplay, naval battles, epic sieges and actually shaping the world we are playing in. If graphics designed for optimal smoothness of playing hurt their eyes who cares, they would get their asses kicked on Darkfall anyway.

dont judge graphics by these videos. First off these are older videos. Secondly, LOTS of image quality is lost when transfering formats. I thought WAR looked like crap when i first saw videos of it on utube, but then I played WAR and the graphics were absolutely amazing. Too bad WAR has too little content and virtually no endgame. I can not wait for Darkfall....
the only thing i rly dont like with this game are the explosions.. they look like taken from old nintendo or something:P and when the build is about to colapse it dosent expload or anything

I agree, the animations are not so great. But i think that if this game is everything they say it will be then the overall concept of freedom to do whatever you want will outweigh the lack of graphics. Also it will set a new standard for MMORPG's that more with bigger name developers will improve upon with better graphics and etc.

Graphics here look good, but not as good as I thought they were when I was watching some other videos...I wonder why?? I guess it may have something to do with this being a beta...the graphics in the main game will surely be better. All in all, this looks like one sick nasty game.

Yes, the graphics is not the main factor in MMORPG games. I used to play Anarchy Online, so i know what that means.
I understant that game can have a bad graphics. This game have a great graphics engine, but 3D artists fucked it up with ugly animation and models. You can tell that they are beginners in this industry, so will be the game. FAIL!
Also, its only my opinion, people should respect it, because no one know what this game will turn out.
You know - whats really costly is the content and deep gameplay mechanics. I know - graphics especially animations are just tons of work. But it's only hard working, not hard thinking or tinkering. When the game runs well (and it really could - i dit not say it *will*) there are still alot of time for making beautiful animations, models and textures. In short: its much more difficult adding more gameplay as improving graphics.
I agree with aout42, i think they have the gameplay down perfect.. All they need to do is perfect the animations after the release, or well.. It hasn't been released yet so.. eh still time. :)
I prefer to see elfs with orcs instead to see a priest does a lot of damage more then a warrior like in WoW or in other game where PvE is super balanced but pvp/economy/war/relationship/alliances and much more are not so good!

It is race based.Mirdians(elves) are racial enemies with orcs.DFO is about being free dude...it is possible to make multi race citys..but that would difficult.A elve could never enter a orc capital city without being attack by players and npc. No matter how much negative alignment you get against your own race(yes u can be good and evil similar to fable:evil characters become outlaw from killing their race/allied race)
1. you will never be allowed in enemy race capital city 2. there npc guard will never accept you and KOS(kill on site).
Elves, Dwarfs, and Humans are allied. Orcs and Mihiriams (spell check plz) are allied. ALfars (dark elves) ally with no other race (but the can attack any other race without getting negative alignment)(evil character get banned for their capital cities: so it basically you versus your race and every else..making living tough).. And yes, I am a Darkfall nerd <3

I had 150 sets of armor premade into seperate bags, that included weapons, magical reagents, and mounts.
I was only playing for 2 months when I set that up and I still had armor that wasn't in those ready bags. GEAR IS EASY TO GET!

There is much more to WoW than just grinding you know. Dungeons, Raids, Battlegrounds, Arena, and the whole idea with the vehicles is turning out pretty cool. Granted it does take lots of grinding, but thats what a MMO is. If you find one that doesnt incorperate griding, its not an MMO.

The Darkfall landmass is much larger then wow, and is meant to accomodate 10 thousand concurrant users. even wow private servers rarely has more then a few hundred players in them
So u can choose, play commenrcial with 10 thousand people or private with 200.

Of course the graphics are finihed yet and neither are the animations and such the whole point of beta testing is to see if the servers will crash with the current setting of the game that company is producing as beta continues there graphics and animations will improve.

Meh, just let the retards talk about shit. They will have WoW with gear based gameplay and nothing to do when they max level. We on the other hand will have fun exploring non-linear dungeons, building/conquering empires, full loot/pvp, sandbox-style gameplay, naval battles, epic sieges and actually shaping the world we are playing in. If graphics designed for optimal smoothness of playing hurt their eyes who cares, they would get their asses kicked on Darkfall anyway.

dont judge graphics by these videos. First off these are older videos. Secondly, LOTS of image quality is lost when transfering formats. I thought WAR looked like crap when i first saw videos of it on utube, but then I played WAR and the graphics were absolutely amazing. Too bad WAR has too little content and virtually no endgame. I can not wait for Darkfall....

But i think that if this game is everything they say it will be then the overall concept of freedom to do whatever you want will outweigh the lack of graphics. Yes, the graphics is not the main factor in MMORPG games. I used to play Anarchy Online, so i know what that means.
I understant that game can have a bad graphics. This game have a great graphics engine, but 3D artists fucked it up with ugly animation and models. You can tell that they are beginners in this industry, so will be the game. FAIL!
Also, its only my opinion, people should respect it, because no one know what this game will turn out.

You know - whats really costly is the content and deep gameplay mechanics. I know - graphics especially animations are just tons of work. But it's only hard working, not hard thinking or tinkering. When the game runs well (and it really could - i dit not say it *will*) there are still alot of time for making beautiful animations, models and textures. In short: its much more difficult adding more gameplay as improving graphics.

It is race based.Mirdians(elves) are racial enemies with orcs.DFO is about being free dude...it is possible to make multi race citys..but that would difficult.A elve could never enter a orc capital city without being attack by players and npc. No matter how much negative alignment you get against your own race(yes u can be good and evil similar to fable:evil characters become outlaw from killing their race/allied race)

1. you will never be allowed in enemy race capital city 2. there npc guard will never accept you and KOS(kill on site).
Elves, Dwarfs, and Humans are allied. Orcs and Mihiriams (spell check plz) are allied. ALfars (dark elves) ally with no other race (but the can attack any other race without getting negative alignment)(evil character get banned for their capital cities: so it basically you versus your race and every else..making living tough).. And yes, I am a Darkfall nerd <3
