You would not have tried to do anything. You would not have known what was going on as there was panic and chaos in the extremely cramped space of the bus. Logically, what you say is correct, but this is a bizzare sequence of events. Personally, being honest, if I was on that bus and caught a glimpse of what the attacker was going, I would form a few people that were capable of doing damage. Trouble is, by then it wouldve been too late anyway. Theres only around a minute to stop the blood escaping from a hole in the neck. Its a very hard call. I suppose if some people helped limit the damage, there wouldve been a small chance of the saving him..

Your heart is in the right place but at the same time be realistic. You're minding your own business and the next thing you know some guy just starts stabbing an innocent man out of nowhere; are you really going to try and do something when your life is danger? Not to mention that there are young children on the bus too. Your main focus should be to get out alive and yes, it's unfortunate that this guy had to die this way but it's pretty obvious that he was dead after one strike.
i guess we never know until we are put in the situation but what if he did something different like stabbed him once and went after other people. At what point do you jump in and fight no matter what. Its fight or flight. We never know until we are tested right?

I think after the first few stabs though, the poor kid was probably dead. It was a big knife. This is one disturbing story though. Just the mere senselessness and random occurrence of it all. I must admit that ,my first response was much like yours. After consideration, though, the guys that were willing to help first made sure that the passengers were off the bus...that is my understanding..the guy in the seat in front ran up to get the driver to stop the bus .. by the time the bus was pulled over kids and women had to get off...i think we can all be armchair critics but everything happened so fast and with 34 people cramming to get out the one exit getting back to help was diff.

Back when I was in high school one of my stupid friends though he was going to "fix" some guy by stabbing him with a stake knife on the bus soon as he got on. I saw him pull the knife and ready the stab, I had to think fast and it was the morning, but I acted and I save the life of someone. Some times people just need to help. I was 17, I'm 22 now and the scar on my hand reminds me I saved a life.

Obviously, the killer was fast stabbing the guy 60 times. Don't think he took his time to do that. He was reported to have gone after the rest of the passengers as well with the "Rambo knife", it's hard to really do anything scared being shitless. It's easy to say how one would help or do something egalitarian to try to stop the situation. Unless you're a trained individual or something, it's hard to cope with the shock at the time, never mind aftershock.
The only way I would approach someone with a knife is if I had a gun. I've been stabbed before and it hurt like hell. Too bad law abiding Canadians aren't allowed to carry concealed handguns to protect themselves. If that was Texas someone on the bus would have pulled out a hand gun and put a hole in that guys head. I agree with you. You make alot of sense. The more I think about it, the more I feel that there should have been some people atleast ONE person that atleast TRIED to stop the guy from stapping the victum. There should have been some effort there. These incidences don't nornally happen up here, so alot of us are not used to these situations and how to act in the immediate moments. I think we should be educated more about how to respond efectively to these sorts of incidents as a nation.
After digesting the story and playing it over in my head, I agree 100% with you. The suspect is 5'10" 180-190 lbs. with only a knife and his back facing the rest of the passengers. He was very vunerable to a chokehold but Canadians being Canadians represented the national symbol (waddling rodent that hides in holes) in it's truest form. They all turned tail and ran. Even the biggest guys on that bus ran. The 1st witness who was recently in the military also ran. Wow! We're in trouble.

Logically, what you say is correct, but this is a bizzare sequence of events. Personally, being honest, if I was on that bus and caught a glimpse of what the attacker was going, I would form a few people that were capable of doing damage. Trouble is, by then it wouldve been too late anyway. Theres only around a minute to stop the blood escaping from a hole in the neck. Its a very hard call. I suppose if some people helped limit the damage, there wouldve been a small chance of the saving him..

I think after the first few stabs though, the poor kid was probably dead. It was a big knife. This is one disturbing story though. Just the mere senselessness and random occurrence of it all. And now we have a man in Alabama who went on a shooting spree. All I have to say is that it has come about that we are all like fresh meat in a lion's den in this world today. I must admit that ,my first response was much like yours. After consideration, though, the guys that were willing to help first made sure that the passengers were off the bus...that is my understanding..the guy in the seat in front ran up to get the driver to stop the bus .. by the time the bus was pulled over kids and women had to get off...i think we can all be armchair critics but everything happened so fast and with 34 people cramming to get out the one exit getting back to help was diff.

of course anyone can say that they would have done something to save him but there is really no way knowing how you would react until your in a situation like that. and the people on the bus had about 1/100th of the length of this video to react and people don't always do what they wish they would have done but people aren't exactly trained to analyze these kind of situations, think of what to do and then act. its more like a blur and next thing you know your off the bus.

Back when I was in high school one of my stupid friends though he was going to "fix" some guy by stabbing him with a stake knife on the bus soon as he got on. I saw him pull the knife and ready the stab, I had to think fast and it was the morning, but I acted and I save the life of someone. Some times people just need to help. I was 17, I'm 22 now and the scar on my hand reminds me I saved a life.

This is post facto now, you could have, would have, but the fact is that the barbaric act and the shock of seeing someone being stabbed in the throat, then decapitation would haulted anyone from thinking clearly in that situation. A butcher's knife, you have any idea how sharp and big it is? There are 30 some passengers, but the walkway is little over a foot. They were lucky that no one else got hurt, don't say something you have no guarantee of.

and I think the bus driver a trucker and some other guy were thinkng of going on the bus and doing something after they got everyone to SAFETY.

lol Just kidding! This is so sad to me. People just don't care about anyone but themselves anymore. I totally agree that somebody should have done something. Personally, I probably wouldn't have because I have a toddler and an infant and my concern would have been getting them off the bus and far, FAR away. In a situation like that, my priority would always be on making sure my kids are safe. I hope if someone ever attacks me, you are around! ;)

I think that if someone was stabbed that much and already dead then why add more victims. The chances of the Psycho hurting or killing someone that got in between him and the victim are pretty high. He was unpredictable.

first of all i never used the word coward second of all everyone has a choice which trauma hits to fight it or run Yea everyone has self preservation but some people look passed that as say ill put that on hold cause someone needs my help more. As for keeping the guy on the bus that was smart not brave cause if crazy guy is outside with you he could try to kill you its common sense. I understand there were old people and kids on the bus.

Obviously, the killer was fast stabbing the guy 60 times. Don't think he took his time to do that. He was reported to have gone after the rest of the passengers as well with the "Rambo knife", it's hard to really do anything scared being shitless. I just think it's stupid to criticize when one wasn't really there.

I do not judge anyone that was in that situation. I was making a statement on how shocked i was. Yes i realize that it probably happened so fast that there probabably wasnt time but me personally I just wouldnt be able to live with myself just standing there watching someone get hacked up.

It's easy to say how one would help or do something egalitarian to try to stop the situation. Unless you're a trained individual or something, it's hard to cope with the shock at the time, never mind aftershock.

The only way I would approach someone with a knife is if I had a gun. I've been stabbed before and it hurt like hell. Too bad law abiding Canadians aren't allowed to carry concealed handguns to protect themselves. If that was Texas someone on the bus would have pulled out a hand gun and put a hole in that guys head. I'm so glad I'm living in the USA.

hey come on dont use the term cowards. I never used that in the video. It was a fast situation and yes people did not act but its not everyday you see someone stabbed beheaded and eaten on a bus. A coward is someone who sees someone steal something and says nothing. This is more extreme. Plus the guy was about 300 pounds himself.

I agree with you. You make alot of sense. The more I think about it, the more I feel that there should have been some people atleast ONE person that atleast TRIED to stop the guy from stapping the victum. There should have been some effort there. These incidences don't nornally happen up here, so alot of us are not used to these situations and how to act in the immediate moments. I think we should be educated more about how to respond efectively to these sorts of incidents as a nation.

After digesting the story and playing it over in my head, I agree 100% with you. The suspect is 5'10" 180-190 lbs. with only a knife and his back facing the rest of the passengers. He was very vunerable to a chokehold but Canadians being Canadians represented the national symbol (waddling rodent that hides in holes) in it's truest form. They all turned tail and ran. Even the biggest guys on that bus ran. The 1st witness who was recently in the military also ran. Wow! We're in trouble.

I Agree with you.. With that many people on the bus.. Of course you may have also suffered injury your self or maybe even death ... but at the same time ..There No way I could have stood by and done nothing!I would rather lose my life trying to save another..rather than live knowing that I had done nothing to stop a death or another.
