what happens when someone runs their car in the pit.? A line forms at the rear for 3 days. One bank of solar cells will not do the job of charging the battery.Tell us how many AMPS is required to run the battery chargers.Dream on ! Where is the new coal fired generating plant going to be located.
Nothing will happen if the car runs into the pit. It will be covered and guide rail will stop the car falling in the pit. Check out the other films. Check out your nearest car wash.
Betterplace is generating green energy to power all the energy needed to run all the cars without oil.
Again check the other films.
On the issue of power from coal, even if you only used coal to power the cars it will be cleaner than petrol.
you had better look at stupid drivers on youtube. The car would destroy the whole works if it fell or was driven on wrong. AMP's and lots of them are required to charge those batteries. That means heat steam coal and coal hauling trucks not mention the big ass smoke stacks. You had better look into volts, amps, and watts.Alot of California's power plants are in other states. That is where their smog has gone.

Yeah, I know. California and Hawaii will get them in 2010 or 2011. We will have the Tesla Model S.
It is Better Place that came up with the idea, not Japan. And Better Place is HQed in California. America will finally become more energy independent again.
So does this mean that soon we will not see politicians gay-kissing(Bush) or bowing down to(Obama) the Saudi Royal Crime Family and their ilk? I certainly hope so!
@12september1683 , the noiseless car can be a little scary for a cyclist, but we will have to get those little rear view mirror things for our helmets. Electric cars are well worth it.
"You be surprise. Trucks work very well with electricity..."
You missed the point. Would the battery be THE SAME SIZE in a truck or a mini-cooper? It's obvious that if it was, the truck would only travel A FRACTION OF THE DISTANCE of the car.
How many DIFFERENT BATTERIES would a station be expected to stock?
How many would they NECESSARILY HAVE to have IN THEIR POSSESSION AT ONE TIME just because the several battery styles are in various states of charge?
My camera, alarm clock and flashlight all use the same kind of batteries. Standardization is not that difficult. A more uniform battery shape and allowing for bigger vehicles to carry multiple batteries would solve the problem. Would not need to own the batteries, either. Instead of a gas station, you pull into a battery station from which you lease batteries. Your lease allows you to pull in and exhange batteries at any time. Could even be automated like a drive through car wash.
Standardization isn't that hard. Take a look at computers, there are so many standards now. If there weren't manufacturers wouldn't be able to market anything.
With bigger cars, they could double the batteries. Don't know how it will be done, but that is an idea. I will leave it to engineers to build it. Keep asking your questions, but do some research first and understand not everyone has under average intelligence like you. It is not that hard to standardize this.
Different swap stations could stock different battery types.
These days it's reasonable to expect every battery-swappable vehicle will also have a GPS- and network-linked onboard computer (as per Better Place blurb) to advise on the nearest swap station when needed.
This could easily be aware of the current stock of each swap station, so you wouldn't need to stop at a station to find out if it has what you need.
As long as we neglect nuclear electrical generation what does it help to power cars on diesel generated electricity. Our electrical grid is already close to maxed out.
A far better short term solution would be compressed natural gas. Converting cars and adding CNG capacity to filling stations would be a far easier, and more economically incentive driven.
We have LOTS of natural gas. We could put the Arabs out of business overnight. Then with crude back at $2 a barrel we could use gasoline or natural gas as the prices in the market dictate.
I'm hoping to keep the two Hondas I own for another 5 to 10 years. No short-term solution to independence from middle east oil.
If the U.S. adopted the attitude toward CNG - of which the U.S. has abundant reserves of NG - that we took in WW2 toward our ENEMIES, when we built DC3s by the hundreds every day, we could STOP FINANCING OUR ENEMIES in short order.
Electric cars will be a fine component for helping to accomplish the same, in THE FUTURE. Let's get independent TODAY.

The cars will be mass produced 2011 by Renault and Nissan
Israel Denmark Australia Hawaii Canada and California are putting in the infrastructure
The money has been raised.
The battery switch station and charging points have been tested and work.
The cars are cheaper to buy and run and work better then petrol cars.
12september1683 2 years ago
You missed my point.
The petrol cars we own NOW, can be converted NOW.
It would be neither cheaper, nor environmentally friendly, to throw the cars we have nowand all buy battery operated cars.
What about going on a trip in your electric car?
You wind up exchanging your brand new battery in some switching station for some other guy's 5 year old crap battery?

Does a pickup truck run on the same size battery as a Mini Cooper?

You be surprise. Trucks work very well with electricity. Today 60 ton tanks run on electricity in stealth mode. But lets get the cars up and running
Betterplace plan to store and fit different batteries

You buy miles not electricity
