so are the cassegrains brighter now then the ones made years ago, & is there still foucs shift?

It's a principal issue. If you want zero image shift while focussing you will need a crayford focusser.

I suppose he means it's a good tradeoff, because you get the most aperture out of the weight compared to other concepts.
