can you do any present cars like, lamborghinis, hummers,or, you get my point... oh, and btw isn't that sheet metal stuff for like monster trucks like on Monster Jam or something?
Hi I looke on the internet and for the gaga u should get a ruler an se how meany mm the sheet metal just a tip if eny one els asks for the gaga of metal:)
@TheCjcoon you can get sheet metal from ace hardware last time i bought a sheet it was $7 i lived in a neighborhood where they where building alot of new houses when they where done with the material it went in the trash they didnt save anything so i got alot of free galvanised angled flashing for free you can get it at home depot or if you live near a new housing development check the build site dumpsters
Great vid! You have me thinking about trying to make a couple of semi truck bodys, Tamiya's Globe liner and King hauler. but I think I'm gonna use thinner gauge metal 'cause i don't need that much strength, mostly show. thanks for posting these videos
@SpecThompsonTV i explain all that in the other videos but i get them off ebay i mainly use the tamiya hornet because it is light and has good ground clearence and does great offroad
I've been thinking about making a rc body out of tin or aluminum for a while now, so the car will have somewhat realistic damage if it wrecks, I found this video searching to see if anyone has already done it before and it seems like it no one has done it with those softer metals, but if anyone has please send me a video cause whould like 2 check it out
@luigi2999 i would make what i could of the body .then make the fenders from fiberglass . i would put foam blocks on either side of the body lightly tack them on with hot glue then shave them down until they look right and fiberglass them . once they are dry desolve the styrofoam with Acetone and glue the fenders on .or you can try to beat the curves out of the sheet metal with a hammer and a sand bag but it takes forever and would be difcult to repair if damaged
Thank you. I wanted to make custom car bodys and repair an old 73 tonka pickup for a long time. Also I have a Clod that needs some crusher cars too. The part about tracing from the screen is a great help. With a good camera you can use any model and copy it. Once again, thank you
i love your idea and im actuly using it. but be more carful with your stuf. me and my dad were watching this vid for the first time and we both felt like it was a joke because your were throughing your stuf around like you didnt care. not trying to be mean just thought that it would help you get more vews. overall i loved it. im building one soon pleas keep puting up vids and ill watch.
@326cafrank i dont understand the comment i did not throw anything if you dont like the video fine there is nothing wrong with the video i would not have ads on my video if i did not get views
@battlebots16 Just thaught I would make a simple observational comment. After watching enough Amarician chopper I learned the basics enough to think of that lol.
@jawj4291 yeah i also watch alot of american chopper i could have made it all fancy with flaired fenders and better curves i was just showing how to make the basic shape the person making it can ad there own twist to it i am wanting to make other cars with more detail like the green hornet car , the ghostbusters car, the original 60s batmobile , the munsters coach , and the mad max v8 interceptor it may be a while before i start on these cars
@battlebots16 When I get the meterials I plan on making a 57 corvet body the rc chasy. That is going to be my first and may be my only custom body I ever make. I know I chose a heard one but it will be worth it when it is all fenished. I plan on vedioing the build when i start to post it on here.
@gabe2304 no my cars would not hold me up they would crush then but as for are they stronger than lexan i would say yes instead of shattering when hitting a curb they bend like a real car would all you do then is get a rubber mallet and beat it back into shape where the fender is bent and keep going i added alot of inner structure to my cars making them very strong
dude, im doing a 1/24 scale dukes of hazzard police car transformer!!!!!!!!!! this is so cool, love youre stuff, im a plastic guy myself, ill send u photos when its done, im subbing too!!!!!!!!!!!
@garethough for a high power chassis like the tamiya hornet or other hoby grade cars it does not seem to make a difference at all the bodys dont usualy weigh more than a pound and a half at most 2 pounds if you realy realy reinforce the body alot
@DANATRINGWOOD i can do that but it will be a weak spot it is such a small area the bond will break so often if would not be worth trying i can probably reinforce the body but there is another problem i cannot seem to find an rc car the size of the metal body it is too weirdly sized so i just left it as a wall decoration
@jayavp125 the general lee is a tamiya hornet chassis i bought off of ebay it takes 12 AA batteries 4 in the car and 8 in the remote and the car runs off of a 7.2v battery pack the chassis was cut and extended the car is 2 feet long 8 and a half inches wide and 6 and a half inches tall at the tallest point
dude i have to say i never thout about sheet metel for an RC car wow now i have some new ideas that i can try out so thank you i am glad i came across your video
what is a good metal for making an rc car body out of. i am doing a project and searching for good metals to make it out of, is there a good light metal that is strong? or would i be better off with plastic?
lol i laughed about the finger because yesterday i was taking apart a transmission, and my hand slipped and i got a laceration in my middle knuckle on my index finger... right hand too. i have one of those huge bandages... we're finger buddies..... that doesnt sound very appropriate. when you have the monaco finished are you gonna have some chases with the general lee?
@d4nzo i will explain everything else in the next video i will buy all of the parts and show what i paid for them as i draw the parts out and cut them then the car being built and driven it may take a couple of videos just stay tuned i will cover everything

Would these be good crush cars for (RC) monster trucks to run over? =D
gabe2304 9 months ago
@gabe2304 they could if you use realy thin metal and dont put any structure in the body then it would be a good crush car
an rc monster truck would not do anything to the cars i make
