I love the "theory" but to me theory is fact. Those who care to look closely can see the progression.Leon and JJ were in band together as youngsters..each going on to change everything.Leon was present and influentuial in the change that occured with the british invasion. His impact is still not understood.JJ cale altered the direction of blues and set a new standard...Pretty good for a couple of okie hicks
I love JJ Cale. I have to say, this sounds a LOT like the first Dire Straits album. I know JJ was around a long time before Dire Straits, so I think Knopfler must have had some heavy influence from JJ. That said, that first DS album rocks. But now I know why. Comments from anybody? I'd like to hear.
@heymama1 , I think Knopfler will admit to taking a HUGE amount of inspiration from JJ. Two tracks in particular, in fact, you should take a listen to back-to-back. "Six Blade Knife" off the first Dire Straits, and "River Runs Deep" off the first JJ Cale record. The mood set is the EXACT same, and both are wonderful
i saw leon and jj and earl scruugs like 3 months ago. before i knew any of them. well, earl, by name, but no more. i wish i was capable of kickin myself in the balls for not knowing what i WAS NOT missing. amazing. by the way. i am a metal head. thats how great they are. they reached me and left tattoos on my soul.
The audio quality on this vid is amazing! I can't believe how good it sounds for being so old. JJ CALE ROCKS!!!! The video quality is equally stunning.
It doesn't get any better than this. We need more of the vintage JJ and Leon, they were so good together. I would love to see they back together, back to there roots.
Blues, jazz, country, bluegrass, or good ol' rock 'n' roll, if it's music, then Leon can play it better than anyone, A true honest to God musical genius!! This is why I'm a LeonLifer...
