@rimedragona mi johnny was amazing! mccartney sucks everything, after the breakup anyway. i watched a vid on best musicians of all time mccartney made 36 and mi lovely lil john made 30 so ha
There was some great keyboard playing there too, don't know by whom. This is right at the top of my list of Beatles songs, with John going punk and Paul playing bass like a rythym or lead.
He played keyboards for the Jeff Beck Group in the early days with Rod Stewart, and Ron Wood. Blues DeLuxe was the best piece with an awesome piano solo. Blues DeLuxe is also covered by the Great Joe Bonamassa. And Nicky Hopkins played on a very obscure "Jamming W/Edward" Stones album released in '71 or '72. He was a great Piano Player. He's missed.
Out of all the bad shit that happen in the 60's I think the beatles were the only thing that good that came out of there and we all know allot of high profile killings happen during that era..
I'm old enough to remember back in the early seventies when "rollingstone magazine" and one of its genius writers wrote that the Beatles weren't any good live. A "studio band" they sniffed. I hope that nincompoop lived to see this. Of course, that's the same magazine that put charles manson on the cover--a real class act.
@MrSammiep05 Derringer owned it, traded it in, Clapton bought it and used it on While my guitar gently weeps, then Clapton gave it to George sometime in 1968. I would eat a turd to own that guitar, think about the history and hands that used it-Derringer, Clapton, Harrison, I'm pretty sure it was stolen form George and he had to buy it back at one point.
Watched em on Ed Sullivan as a kid at 8 and remember it like Yesterday...hard to believe John would be 70...if not for MDC. I miss both you and George. Thanks for the post and rock on Beatles fans now... and forever!!! Don't you know it's gonna be...all right!!!

love JOHNS GUITAR playing and that tone= sound it so DIRTY also his timing is so tricky and sharp, as for his Singing... 5 stars. this is live And JOHN vocals as always are TOP= raw and beautiful-one of the most interesting singers in Rock n' Roll
The Beatles at some point ,probably soon after their first acid experience(dosed unknowingly by a "trusted" personal dentist),were then used for getting across the political agenda of others .Similar to Jane Fonda being manipulated by French activist/ director Roger Vadim'.The exit from the Maharishi's retreat in India ,John's estrangement from his wife Cynthia sets up Yoko Ono's emergence to commandeer,w/ her anti U.S. Nam war stance, the Beatles PR machine in the vacuum , post Epstein .
@gpenuevomtz no, no , he dont had right to believe himself better than jesus or that you or me and yes I have the right to think that Lennon was very arrogant person
@andrivc0525 I'm sorry. I was not traying to pick a fight. You are right; is your right! But before you difine him for something that was take out of context (in the fist place) I'm still thinking that the guy is out of the ordinary ; and I think you need to find the facts of the "bigger than Jesus" thing, and you are right... this is America we all have Rights. Damn it! And when I said "and you..well." I meant WE are not Genius...
@gpenuevomtz I'm agree lennon was very talented, unusual, as you say you, but I think he was somewhat arrogant (just an opinion) do not even know him, but that's what I spread through the TV.seems Bono of U2 , he believe that he can save the world with his poor talent that is so much smaller that his big ego( another personal opinion)I do not want to provoke discussion too ...only i want to show my opinion . I like the beatles but this issue of egos is tricky for me...
This is probably the best clip we have of the Beatles, simply because it's color videotape, not some grainy black-and-white film, and they're not wearing obviously Sixties clothes (you wouldn't point and stare at anybody walking down the street wearing those today). This looks like it could have been recorded today. Except it has, you know, actual musicians playing actual musical instruments, singing words you can comprehend, and there's no idiots dancing in the background.
Dang, compare those two shots of John just to the right for "You've Got Hide Your Love Away" and Instant Karma. Don't even look like the same guy. Spooky!
Beatles Karaoke! Uh wheres Nicki Hopkins playing his exact background piano...Catch George playing an A bar chord...still the vocals are cool and this is one of my favorite versions! Kinda wish John didn't say in...
this is the best version (the single mix), then the White Album version was put into the alvbum which was recorded before
and I'd say this video is not live (except vocals) - exact same distorded sound. This was achieved by plugin in both guitars in the mixing console in the studio, overloading the channel by generating fuzz
@FredFelon That's actually a sponge or a pad to deaden the strings a bit. This is Paul's first Hofner bass, where both pickups are near the neck. If you'll notice, they're actually fitted with black braces around them because they WERE in danger of falling off at that point. This was Paul's backup Hofner by that point.
Allways loved this tune...to "funkateerkitty", I'm happy to see someone else aching for it. I'm resurrecting it right here from The Haight in SF. I sort of copied John & Yoko and went and declared peace on May 1st! I was publishing my new company's website that day (ReVoltage Recordings) and thought it fitting. I put a "Declaration of Peace" button for others to submit and be counted. It's already working. Love and peace....and I love The Smothers Brothers too!
no one had ever made a song like this in the past.before this it was realy hard to say somthing agianst the goverment and get away with it....THEN CAME REVOLUTION!!!!! (and the smothers brothers)
the Boys are also singing with the recorded track, it's easy to tell if you watch John at the end when he sings the "alrights", he doesn't even sing the last one. but it's still fantastic.
Too bad this is not really "Live" - the instrumental track is a studio recording (notice that neither George nor John plays the solo lick, and there's no piano apparent). The vocals are live, though. Pretty standard practice - I'm just surprised The Beatles would put up with it - some acts did perform live (instruments and all) though usually not on prime-time TV.
john lennon himselft said something to the effect he wanted to issue the slow version but george harrison and paul mccartney said it was too slow...so they did the fast version....i agree with harrison and mccartney...i like this fast version a lof better....
It was a bit dissapointment when I bought the White Album to find a totally different version of this song Revolution. In that one it had been slowed to a balard and was certainly not as good as this full electric guitar version of the song.
yeah. the reason why that one is called revolution 1 is because that's how john had wanted it to be in the first place. he thought the song would have made a better impact on society. of course, george martin was like "dude, fuck that. play it with some style". and that's where the "actual" revolution comes from.
@thelearner60 The version on the White Album was the original version, hence the title, “Revolution I”. George Martin, I think it was, wanted John to speed it up so they could sell it. He didn't feel like the “slow” one was marketable. John rearranged it and they put it out as a single.
@thelearner60 the album version is the original, Revolution 1, as in the first take (my personal favorite), and it just boils down to taste. The only reason they made this version is because the rest of the Beatles (besides John) thought it was too slow.
@thelearner60 It's true that they could delete both Revolution songs from the White album and include songs like Circles, Junk or Child of Nature, even Becasue and Across the Universe were written by the same time. that would be the most unveliebable album of all the times.
@thelearner60 that one was the original. paul and george said that john's version was too slow for a single, so john said, "screw it" and made it uncharacteristically rucous and loud.
@williambrazzers, the group would have died right there with Brian if it wasn't for Paul pushing them to continue as a band. It was just a matter of time before it ended. He was not manipulative he was just more eager to continue then the others.
This Version Is Way Better Than The Original Single Version. The Guitar Is Actualy More Clear By 2%. Plus, It's Done While Filming, So It Has More Soul.
They were ALL gifted musicians not just American Idol Singers....

@thelearner60 Yeah it was a B side to Hey Jude so you'll have to get Past Masters 2 for this faster, distorted version.

@tomtom255 I shall the one on the White Album is terrible in my view.

John had originally wanted the slow version released as a single, but Paul said that it would not sell. So they redid it faster. Paul was right.

@mcainiac Because it was period.

@thelearner60 The version of Revolution played here is on the "Hey Jude" album.

@thelearner60 oh totally, same here. and past masters isn't even one of their official albums, which is a shame.
fivestander 1 year ago
@thelearner60 It's true that they could delete both Revolution songs from the White album and include songs like Circles, Junk or Child of Nature, even Becasue and Across the Universe were written by the same time. that would be the most unveliebable album of all the times.
WiltatKansas 1 year ago
@thelearner60 that one was the original. paul and george said that john's version was too slow for a single, so john said, "screw it" and made it uncharacteristically rucous and loud.

@williambrazzers, the group would have died right there with Brian if it wasn't for Paul pushing them to continue as a band. It was just a matter of time before it ended. He was not manipulative he was just more eager to continue then the others.

I afraid your right there seeing that one day according Paul, Lenon came into the recoring studio and said he was Christ.

This Version Is Way Better Than The Original Single Version. The Guitar Is Actualy More Clear By 2%. Plus, It's Done While Filming, So It Has More Soul.
