No midi, it was a recording of my first play around with the Kraftzwerg as a standalone modular. I think I was triggering the Amplitude envelope with one of the LFOs and the other LFO was modulating pitch and /or the filter. The Kraftzwerg self oscillates if you push the gain up high enough so no external midi or CV/Gate triggering is needed, unless of course you want to play it like a 'normal' monophonic synth.
Can a modular synth do normal musical stuff or is it mostly soundeffects/technostyle kind of beats and such? Not that it's bad but I am just curious, love analog things but never really heard a modular synth sound "good" in the case of sounding melodic and playing plucks, leads, stabsounds, strings and so on?
@M3sslah You can basically make any sound a monophonic synthesizer can make and much more, but it is harder because you have to know all the different aspects of making that sound. Check out Deadmaus and his modular setup for more "normal" sounds. I think the reason many modular people make strange sounds is that they actually don't really care about making music, but just want to experiment for the sake of experimenting.
Just plug in a midi keyboard or a keyboard that sends CV/Gate signals and play it as normal 3 Oscillator monophonic synth. The envelope on the Kraftzwerg is pretty fast so pluck sounds and percussive sounds are possible.
The guy who makes these and all the MFB instruments keeps the cost down by using these really simple XOXbox style cases, as far as the knobs ,switches and sockets go I haven't noticed any problems. The only let down is the midi to cv convertor, sometimes notes hang when playing live, sequenced stuff is no problem though. As an intro to modular synthesis you can't go wrong with a kraftzwerg, the sound is great for the money especially if you find a good second hand price.
the best result of this synth is that sounds Clear... super!

I cant help to ask but is the midi you send in only one note or is there a pattern?

I heard a lot of complaints about the build quality. What is your opinion?
