People slagging off these drums for not sounding acoustic are totally missing the point. I live in a population intensive area and there is no way I could practice properly on an acoustic kit and these and others like them are a fantastic alternative. I'm pretty sure they could be set up for the difference to be barely noticable. Don't get me wrong, for gigging I go with acoustic everytime but come on, this is the beginning, us drummers have never had it so good, lets embrace the technology!!
don't get angry 'cause he's playing on an electric set. Electric drum set is as good as acoustic drum set, it's just different but if you just tried a roland drum you might be able too say that this is like a real drum set. :)
I disagree. The drums do sound fairly good, although I do believe that the Pearl E-Pros sound and feel better. Not to mention, Rolands offer too much bounce and have the "machine gun" effect. Not every strike sounds the same on an acoustic (which is why these rolands sound "fake") and nothing tops the sound of an upper-end acoustic set.
@a7xcarter out of the box yes, but if you tune them up, sensitivity and threshold, catered to your playing style, you can make them sound better. i've been playing roland for 10 years.
@JonnyWedel Are you kidding? My god what do you want? Of coarse it sounds electronic, IT's ELECTRONIC! With your own tweaking you can get any sound in the world. I personally think it's pretty cool. Just my oppinion though.
@0Nolan yea ive heard some of the pearl E-Pro and it is the most realistic ive heard yet but even then its obvious to the ear that its fake. and yea, some of those artificially generated ones are pretty realistic sounding. i suppose i have nothing against those. but i think its virtually impossible to make fake drum sounds imitate the insane amount of dynamics at your disposal when playing real drums. but mind you, you don't really hear that cus 99% of them computerize there own music lol.
@JonnyWedel I know, I can barely hear the difference myself.
But what I meant are VST's.
These are drum software, and all recorded from real drums. You can EQ/mix the sound yourself like your in a real studio with mics. Also, the 'machineguneffect' is reduced because overtime you hit a pad the sound changes a little bit. I believe there is still no module that can do this.
VST's are like 40GB, so a hell lot of sounds!
Btw, many people prefer the 2box sounds over rolands! You should check it out.
Lang Comes out with an out of this world performance as you can see he's a Roland TD-20KX with a double bass pedal my friend Ronin Kinsman would be impressed In conclusion Thomas is an amazing percussionist

Usually Lang uses two TD-20 modules for his monster of a kit, and what looks to be an Octopad beside him. You can see one module on the right and one on the left.
@daniel3786 The kit of this size is only mounted for the Thomas Lang and you do not find that way to sell. But the kit is basically formed from the Roland TD-20KX V-Drums.
sounds like keine lust

You can tell he's struggling with the cymbal swing and weights and feels of the kit. He adjusts nicely though.

Why don´t you get a real drum-kit?

@thelapander the kit sounds crappy not the drums... you have 100 different kits on this module, some are recorded and sound really nice ;)

@JonnyWedel I repect your opinion.
That's why they invented VST's like superior drummer because you are not the only one with that opinion. :)
