Amazing video in my opinion. How wonderful to have such profound ideas and minds at work together. This video seems like a tribute to thousands of years of great thought.
Their meetings are far too short. They should atleast have 3 hours of discussion. 1/10 was allready used as an introduction, which goes to show from start, that there is too little time.
What ppl don't realize is that math, as a language, has limits on what it can intelligibly describe. What language can describe how redness appears to us to a blind person? For the blind, language is unable to bridge certain chasms. We see, but we too have chasms unbridgeable.
I don't think this discussion was a waste of time, but I think the discussion was oriented towards philosophy with respect to the relationship of religion and mathematics (if any). However, if that was the point of the discussion, it was very-well done.
Why not bring an Atheist mathematician along with a Theist mathematician??? I think this discussion is pretty much one-sided. The philosopher Atheist is the elephant in the room.
This old Consciousness of 1+1=2 is sinking in my knowledge giving way to new consciousness of 6 different answers. I will post a video this year on this new way of recognition. At a point the answer 2 is right and is only %16.6 right.
I believe that a true sign of intelligence is the ability to compress information into it's simplest form. Especially when trying to express or teach a conceptual idea. In order for it to culminate within a resonable amount of time. Keep in mind that to most ,this is a new conseption and therefore must be somewhat conceivable in it's arrangement. Prepare your thoughts accordingly. Arrogance of accumulated knowledge is the worst teaching attribute. Sometimes when a cup runneth over.. it's a mess.
I believe that an important aspect of intellectualism is the ability to take that understanding and compress it into it's simplest form so that one can not only understand it but also express it. This ability is not only a sighn of true intelligence but is void of arrogance. A nessary attribute when verbalising or teaching conceptual ideas. Prepare with the understanding that it is a knew consept to most and that in order for it to adhere or find any necessary holdings it must be concievable.
@groundzerobuild Math and religion are equal. Math is based on a number of unprovable concepts such as 1+1=2 and a+b=b+a and so is religion (god exists)
@crywolf30 that is math at the basic level (up until 2nd year of college in the United States). People are not told (presumably because it would be impracticle) that those are axioms and that all our results from elementary math holds only if those axioms hold. You referred to the commutativity of addition, there are situations where commutativity does not hold (i.e. any non-abelian group). The countable numbers happens to be in the situation where the axiom holds. So, your argument is falacious
hi i have been looking into occult symbolism and am trying to find any iformation on the ritual seals and there geometry many of these followers use seals and symbols to call forth if you will spirits/ demons and i am trying to find a coorolation in the mathematics of such things as i believe if there is away to contact other beings it could be through the use of the universal language of mathematics and not religion any info atall would be great thankyou
The problem is that religion has nothing to do with God. Mathematics is a gift from God. the problem with mathematics is that we need another system far different from the current form used. Here is a clue, think music, two forms combined does marry relativity to quantum and proves that a God singularity does exist. Now it will easy to see how all numbers resolve to ONE. Don't count on 5+7 equalling 12 all the time. It could equal 1 or 15 or 22.
I think the reason this question exists is that no one can answer that. We have such a small vocabulary of reality, who knows if that can be proved or not ... maybe it first needs to be defined?
@Mick343777 "Don't count on 5+7 equalling 12 all the time. It could equal 1 or 15 or 22." Doesn't 5+7 equal 12 by definition? What does it even mean to say that 5+7 does not equal 12 all the time? When doesn't it equal 12? Why would time change that? Which part would fail to add up to equal 12, the 5 or the 7? What would it even mean for 5+7 to equal something other than 12? What would 5+8 be? Would that mean that it was false that 5=5? Would it be false that 7=7? Did what you say make sense?

Great round table discussion. Just awesome. People with varying views coming together to talk civilly about important matters

Until I see a formal mathematical proof, God is nothing more than a conjecture.

Oh my God, they are so stupid!!!! This world is lost, if those persons are called "genius" and put in such high positions (MIT, Princeton).
WHAT HAPPENED IN THIS WORLD?!?! WHEN DID THE HUMANS STOP THINKING?!
omg this is so sad.

The arguments made for God are much like the arguments that can be made to prove that 1=2. God is a mathematical fallacy. God is division by zero...

Religion was created from science but later commericialized and became faith-based. I think we all know why. Ma'at 101. ~ MAP

i think the whole discussions become meaningless when you equate maths with religion!

This is not a simple concept but it does work.

sigh...
Why does someone always have to claim that they have something that PROVES God, or in this case a "God Singularity".
If it does, then fine - publish your findings, let it go to peer review, and then the whole world can agree.
But that won't happen, will it.
We all know this.
We know that, yet again, claims of proof will turn out to be anything but.
Please, spare those who are not of your belief system from your belief system based pronouncements without empirical evidence.
