I also want to say about this video that it is great to watch a band that plays really well together and has a good vibe/chemistry. Everyone's performance in Shoot The Moon is 100% on the money. Great stuff and the energy is wonderful!!! I say this because nowadays I see so much tension in bands and experienced some bad vibes on stage myself in the past!
I have said this before, but I will say it again. Rowan Robertson was one of the best guitar players Ronnie James Dio ever worked with. He has that thing in common with Vivian Campbell,Doug Aldrich which is that Rowan can play the blues. That stylistic diversity is why he bought in such power into Dio. A real shame he did not do more albums in that band. And I did meet Rowan with my sister back at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1990 and I have the photo to this day.
Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Glad Dad's home videos are bringing back good memories for you! I wasn't at the gig myself but I bet Iza Blue rocked too.
Yey, mate I never thought I'd see this again! Brilliant. I was in the band that played before this lot! Or was it Thaxted?! Tell Rowan that Lui from the Iza Blue band says HI! And I see a young Booga too. Dan went on to play with Rythmn Department, and Crispin joined a band that won the Cambridge rock comp around1989/90. Cheers for the memory dude.:-)
Amasing! Spent most of my late teens with these guys. Still have photos of them all. I remember the last jam that Rowan did with the band in Thaxted before he went to join Dio. They played Jump, and oh my god still gives me goose bumps now when I hear it. Hi to Dan B, Jon etc. Where are you now? Often to be seen with Hugh Turner!
Wow - stumbled upon this by mistake! I was in the audience, loved Shoot the Moon - was good mates with James Free, the vocalist (not here), and the rest.
They did a bit of a reunion gig a few years back in some pub in Saffron Walden with John, Crispin and Dan on guitar. They were a good band, shame the never made it big.
Yeah, even back then I think we all knew Rowan was going to make it big. I remember watching Shoot The Moon at Fairycroft, and at the Lord Butler Leisure centre - great times. What happened to Dan, the other guitarist. He was cool - i think he sold me my first guitar when he worked in a guitar shop in Cambridge, circa 1987 ...
It's a real blast from the past,it's amazing to see myself,Rowan & Jim from back in the day.Rowan is such a great player & an amazing person, love "the bigger kid"aka Booga
This video is fantastic! What a great young band.. Rowan Robertson at 15 years old was already great..he's one of the best guitar players in the world!!
@romneya7 can you tell him to release the work he did with dio that was shelved he one of my favorite guitar players but he only did one album with dio and i would love to hear more of his work and more of dios.
@cheese0tron YES BRING THOSE TAPES BACK FROM THE GRAVE AND LET US HEAR EM? PLEASE!!! ROWAN HAS ALWAYS BEEN A BIG INFLUENCE ON MY STYLE, "WILD ONE" IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST DIO SONGS EVER.

spatnyklok 3 years ago
No, but certainly the worst ever comment I've made on Youtube. Amd I didn't even mention the band. A deliberate ploy to coax you out.
lordparek 3 years ago
well coaxed. but your best cover can't mess with Billy 'Fat Boy' Stewart's version of Summertime
spatnyklok 3 years ago
The singer's band in Prague - Spatny Klokan - would never have allowed much of this behaviour.
spatnyklok 3 years ago
Surely someone out there must have video footage of Spatny Klokan?
lordparek 3 years ago
My God! I'm the singer - Jim Peacock - with a very bad haircut, age 17. I can't believe this!
