Just because Fox gets higher ratings doesn't mean they're right, or that they're viewers are right. Maybe it just means that the majority of rural/backwood folk viewership is concentrated on Fox News.
While on the other hand, urban viewers (who are more likely to be secular, tolerant, highly educated, ect.) split viewership between CNN and MSNBC.

I think that's way off...Fox doesn't make sense as a 'moderate'--i.e. ACTUALLY fair and balanced--network.
Might get some additional head-fakes in that direction, though. Shep Smith might become a (slightly) less lonely voice of sanity.
This is what the Fox model (if not it's loudmouths per se) intends...this is the unfolding of an environment they will THRIVE in. It's a violence-porn twist on Michael Savage's "Enemy Within" schtick.

Well, I would reword that comment to go in depth of how long it would take, but my point remains, so long as the current trends remain, and there is nothing pointing the other direction.
More people are losing their faith than "finding" it (I bring this up because, undeniably, those with no religious backgrounds are more Liberal.), and the younger you are, the more Liberal you are.
So again, it will take years, but it is going to happen.

The only reason their ratings are so high is because the (Social) Conservative party is a sinking ship, and the part not sunk where they all ran to is FOX News.
All the Moderates (Fiscal) are diluted between CBS, ABC, CNN, etc.

Oh, I disagree with most the things JS says, but I have more respect for him than any other Conservative talking head.
He can be crazy at times, but he seems to get along with everyone to an extent, and his show also has some good interviews.
And, he's not a blind follower of Conservatives. He critizeses them all the time. Even though I think his beliefs ar BS, AT LEAST he aknowledges when it is clear that something Conservative, or a Conservative person has fucked up.

Shepard Smith is not a conservative commentator for Fox News...he is very moderate, and a little liberal leaning. You won't here any of the conservative commentators saying it was right for DHS to say what they said. DHS was very wrong, and admitted they were wrong.

In fact, Shep Smith only qualifies as a liberal in the batshit-crazy America of the 2000s. Does anybody remember how, in the 1980s John McCain was considered a conservative Republican? Now the Overton Window has been shoved so far to the right that McCain is apparently a liberal traitor to the Republican cause. How did the country become so loony? It took a lot of effort.
