Actually it's a nail gun! You can see it in action in one of the introductory/teaser videos they made. You can even still find the ammo for the nail gun in one of the shelves of a Dispencer!

Heh. Actually, it is a nailgun. From TFC. And yes, he was originally going to have a nailgun, but the developers decided a scattergun would better fit him. Your fail is showing.

Firstly the Nailgun looks like a Sten Mk2 if i remember correctly from the hud from TFC, and it looks like a German MP40 on the pic on it, so your fail is showing, as i "thought" not "said" that it shoulda been a Scattergun as its TF2 not TFC or TF 1.5 or the when it was a Quake Modifiation! :P

This picture was from the unfinished version. You can see how the Spy, Soldier and Engineer have different colours. original BETA had Scout with an SMG yes, but they felt that would be unfair of a weapon.
