Following on... Listen carefully. I'm a professional drummer with lots of experience, but it baffles me as to how, in this recording (as great as it is) Bernard has something going on between his basic cymbal and cross-stick groove.

Can you hear that 16th ghost-note groove going on underneath his normal beat? Not talking about the ghost-notes that HE'S talking about and explaining, but the ghost-notes that no-one else seems to notice.... Just wondering... Anyway, it blows me away!!!!

Hey, just out of interest, does anyone know (at 2:32) - when Bernard says "Cymbals" - how he keeps some sort of 16th groove going underneath while he's still playing cross-stick and ride (ie left and right hands occupied)? What I'm trying to say is that there's a 16th snare or hi-hat groove with an accent on 1-'e', and then on 2-'e', etc, yet you can see he's not playing anything that would actually make that sound, if you know what I mean.
