  • how do you remove the "little leg" from underneath the memory boy, in order to hook it to the pedalboard? Or do you have any idea hot to velcro it to the pedalboard?

  • @nyebu i put velcro on mine, if there are feet just unscrew the screws and take off the feet

  • I heard that the Memory Boy is being discontinued. Is that true?

  • can you put a tap pedal beside it and tap the tempo?

  • @LucasPinarbasi nope

  • which is the song in the begining?

  • your title intro is so messed up

  • Sweet kicks.

  • gearmandude.. a.k.a GMD.. you are my idol.. lol.. no..no.. seriously youre my idol

  • imagine this though a diddly bo!

  • @JohnEddy123 hey, any decent ANALOGUE delay will get you reasonably close to the sound jamie gets on secret door. although both jamie and alex have used the EH pedal i think at the time he was actually using a roland space echo but to be honest in a dark room you'd struggle to tell the difference just make sure you get plenty of nice reverb on there as well and you'll be fine. hope this helps

  • ah delay is my favorite. love the riff starting at 3:38

  • Analog delay, beautiful tool, I have a memoy boy and it´s great in sound and price but later on I ´d rather use a vintage deluxe memory man...

  • Can anyone explain to me what 'Hazarai' is. It's written on the deluxe memory man. thanks

  • @Darryld1 some yiddish nonsense.

  • @fruitbatrepublic thanks. maybe an effect to avoid as it gives me bad guts.

  • Here's my honest opinion,

I REALLY didn't want to hear a difference in sound (the cheaper the better right?) and i didnt want my eyes to decide, so I minimised the screen and when I heard a sound I loved i'd open the screen (i did the same for a sound i hated!).

Got to hand it to the pedal nerds.

The Memory man does indeed sound better...

  • @VarashTR The thing that is funny is both the dry and wet signals sounded better on each delay so one of them must change the dry tone somewhat. I want a DLX Memory Man w Tap Tempo so bad!

  • Why no gain (high) examples?

  • yeahhhhhh gearmandude playin that EXPERIMENTAL stuff!

  • Am I wrong or are the older DMMs with the hard-wired power cord unbeatable?

  • Which one of these is darker? Tape delay has a higher bandwidth and someone told me the DMM gets as close as a true analog pedal could get at imitating tape delay from the floaty characteristic of the repeats. I need a delay that will be subtle but engulf the tone with atmosphere and ambience.

  • @theShowStopper321 DMM it man

  • @theShowStopper321 buy a space echo

from boss or the original maybe betwn 359 to 500 bucks

  • @theShowStopper321 As far as I have heard the DMM is best not as dark as most analog delays (Ibanez, BOSS etc) its my go to emulation on any software rig emulater

  • i have a memory boy ( this pedal give the same Deluxe Memory Man smooth echo sound ) 10 / 10 great gear !!!!!

  • @Caphka000 Definitely not. I have both pedals, the DMM is much brighter and cleaner and produces way less noise/hiss. And yes, I played various copies of the Memory Boy, it´s not only my pedal that sucks.

  • Can you please do a review of the DELUXE MEMORY BOY with EXPRESSION PEDAL! That would be sweet dude!

  • I swear you the best man

  • I'll take my memory man over the memory boy! Don't send a boy to do a mans job!!

  • Man barely any analog pedal reviews show off the self oscillating space ship take offs, like that's what these pedals are for!

  • EH delay pedals sound thin and sterile to me..at least every demo I hear.

  • @spybeach I think the older pedals in the vintage boxes generally sounds VERY good, the new Nano thing they are making now sounds thin.

  • MEMORY BOY - sounds more crisp and brighter

    MEMORY MAN - sounds warmer

***like always, it depends on what other gear you're using, how all of your gear complements/works against each other, what sound you're looking for, how it feels, and what you're willing to pay.***

  • Gee, the memory boy rocks...! By the way who's that guy singing at the end on the credits?

  • @MrThedweller howlin wolf

  • I use both of these delays and for some scenarios I think the Boy sound better than the Man. It is a bit more crispy and articulate than the Man. I especially like the Boy for dotted eighth nothes (U2 style) rhythmic patterns

  • @diamondguitars Hey bro, would you be willing to give me the exact settings for dotted eights on the memory boy please?

  • @GuitarLessonSarasota

There is no specific setting for dotted 8th, it depends on the tempo of what you are playing, look for tutorials on youtube, there are a lot.

  • I love the throwing of the pick in the last few seconds of the demo!

  • im getting a memory boy in a week any pros, cons or tips any 1?

  • @UnhealthyAddiiction the memory boy is a fantastic pedal. for me it was between the memory boy and the carbon copy. i felt the CC was a little "two warm" if anything and over did the whole ananlog delay thing.

the only trouble you may have with the MB is that the delay time is rather short, and alot of the modulation effects are not easily useable in normal playing. its great if youre into making weird noises though. i've got one. brilliant.

  • @IslandThreeBand hey man i got one too a memory boy when i play thru it some izzzzzz comes with the delay it got worst when i put the blend in high setting .... do you know what could be???

  • it may be due to the order you have got it in the effects chain. i have come across this problem from other people. for some reason it doesnt happen on mine. order of effects is the only thing i can think of

  • man>boy>toy boy is in middle but it is 1/3 cost of mem man but sill gets that warm lush delay one the cheap good value delays i say worth the extra 30$ from the toy and any other delay.

  • marc12marc

imo, the memory boy sounded "gainier," but I can't guarantee that both pedals had the exact same settings or that they would respond the same to the same configuration...a lot of people (inc. me) have a thing for the memory man, it being the original, yadda yadda, but the memory boy (again, to me) sounds good, al least better than other delays out there

    gearmanndude

love your Z and the telly, ats some sweet tone right there

  • Is it as good as the deluxe memory man tone wise ?

  • Gear man dude you've got to get a website i would visit it all the time

  • ehx are bringing out the deluxe memory boy next year, you can see the prototype on discofreqs fx database website. Its the memory boy with an extra tap tempo switch and a beat subdivision dial for dotted 8t, triplet etc... more features than the diamond memory lane 2, cheaper no doubt. Perhaps a contender for the most versatile analog delay? Not sure when we can expect to see it though.

  • ...and don't forget the effects loop. And choices on what the exp pedal controls.

I believe it was on sale @ proguitarshop.

  • The Memory Boy has it's own thing going off, but you can't beat the Deluxe Memory Man, it's the king of analog delay. The End.

  • @PhilsenLasVegas gonna have to go with the diamond memory lane 2 for king of analog delay..tap tempo, dotted 8s, foot switchable modulation and 2 seperate delay channels..

  • I would agree with you if it was all down to features alone, but the Daimond Memory Lane 2's repeats aren't as pronounced as the Deluxe Memory Man's and for my style I need those pronounced repeats. The Memory Man's still king in LasVegasland.

  • @PhilsenLasVegas you can modify that..it has a tilt eq..you can make them as pronounced and bright as you want, or lay off and make them dark and warm..or anywhere in between..i dno if you've ever played one, seeing as they're $600 USD and made in a tiny corner of Canada..they make them about 3 hours from where I live in Nova Scotia...either way though, both amazing analog pedals, 2 of the best!

  • I think it's a good pedal, don't get me wrong. I particulaly liked the 8th note feature. They had one in at our local guitar shop for around £360 (I live in England). I got really excited about it because of it's features, but after an A/B test I preferred the sound of my Memory Man. It's just my personal preference. Just imagine an Electro Harmonix Ubber Memory Man with the Diamond Memory Lane 2's features. Now we're talking my language.lol

  • you know you should do a memory TOY review since it's so affordable and looks as if it's worth the money

  • he does have one. He compares it against the memory boy.

  • That intro is from the Howlin' Wolf and Eric Clapton sessions. And yes, I am a know it all SOB...

You should all go get that album!

  • Try and hook up 8 Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man in parallel!

  • memory boy sounds better to me

  • thanks man.keep doing more demos of other efects than just only OD/DS pedals

  • Great demo. Square wave stting on the Memory Boy sucks though

  • i've been waiting for someone to do this demo for a while.

    thanks mang.

  • I believe the memory toy could've been added to this shoot out:

    large medium and small

  • Memory boy, sounds ok. Less confusing, better deal. I'd give it a 6.5 or 7/10, but I'd give the memory man a 9 or 9.5 out of 10

  • y stay with the memory boy its cheaper and almost same sounding as the memory man

  • I like the memory boy, the memory man has too many knobs
