God,just think about what a magical place the Metrodome was at the time this happend.The Vikes were likely 4-0 on the way to a date at the NFC championship game and the Twins had just extended the life of this facility for baseball!Both missions came to tragic ends,but it does not have to be that way this year!The Vikings, 0-2 will have to face off against Detroit,comon man Detroit, we gotta be 1-2 after that one!For the Twins,who knows,except it has been an exciting inaugural season @ Target!

That was a classic game. As much as it hurts as a Tiger fan, I have to give the Twins their respect. They earned it. They never gave up and Gardenhire kept them believing in themselves. He basically out-managed Jim Leyland the last month of the season. The Twins have been a thorn in the Tiger's sides for the past few years now. That being said, we'll see how those pampered Twinkie players handle playing in the cold in April and September in Minnesota. GO TIGERS!

Gotta hand it to the manager.. Gardenhire does more with less, season in and season out. We don't have the big buck players with cologne ads(Jeter). Twins have good character players and the team as a whole has had to fight from underdog ranking often. I'm not saying they're going for a pennant, but man, taking the division in the 163rd game is a great way to say goodbye to the Metrodome.

i hope they beat those pesky yankees, the yankees are like a hemorrhoid you cant get rid of. that sucks having to play less than 24 hours. its not the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog. i wish hunter was still with the twins and santana. As a baseball fan myself, that had to be one of the BEST games ever, from the clutch hitting, to what really stood out for me, all the defensive plays on the field, those were some AMAZING plays indeed. The Twins are going to be in tough vs the Yankees, but after this game, you never know what the Twins could do in the playoffs...:-)

Actually in the last decade they have 2 rings (1999 & 2000), that's pretty good. I didn't mean to get everybody all excited. I guess the total arrogance by the Yankee & Red Sox fans is what pisses me off. I suppose I would be that way too if my starting rotation made more than the entire roster for the Twins!

First, I never said I was a Yankees fan, I just said that I would root for them against the Twins because of that infernal Dome. And "usually find a way to blow it in the end"?!!! What the heck does that mean? While not a Yankees fan, they have won more championships than any other franchise by a long shot. And yes, they did blow it vs the Red Sox, but you get to the playoffs that many times, you're bound to have that happen occasionally.

Have you ever even been to the Dome? Twins are getting a new stadium next year that is outdoors, but the Dome is actually pretty sweet. I am excited for the new field, but you can't get last nights atmosphere outdoors!

No, I have never been there, but even littlescott007 below said "the dome is a pile of crap". Yes, I'm sure that the atmosphere is great, but I just don't like domes in general... baseball is meant to be played outdoors. And the Metrodome in particular IS a pile of crap. That weird padding on the fences and the top of the dome painted white so that balls constantly get lost up there. I'm very happy that the Twins at least will be playing outdoors now.

Well, I'd prefer a regular outdoor field, but at least that gives the option of playing outdoors. I just think the game is meant to be played outdoors on grass. Call me a purist... which is also why I'm generally not a fan of the AL... I hate the DH!!

What weird padding on the fences? The dome isn't painted white, it's composed of white fiberglass fabric. It's no different losing a ball in the sunlight, then losing a ball in the roof. The dome isn't in perfect condition, but I wouldn't say it's crap. It's versatile, it's used by several other teams for other sports (Vikings,Gophers). Plus, the dome is climate controlled when it's cold outside (which, being in MN and all, is often.) Target Field is nice, just don't forget your blankets.

OK, so its not painted white, but your missing the point. Since it has a roof, why should it be white so the ball will blend in with it. Why have the exact same disadvantage as playing outside, just doesn't make sense. Well at least now you will be outdoors, the way the game was meant to be played.

I couldn't believe this game from last night. It had EVERYTHING, a see saw battle, drama, extra innings, heart determination...and MY TEAM WON!! I'm forever a Twins fan unfortunately relocated in Michigan (tough I know!) and haven't taken off my Twins gear for almost 2 weeks now!!! I have one question though, where can you get the 2009 Homer Hanky?? I've been looking online for one and haven't come across them yet!!

What a great game! Congrats to the Twins for hanging in there while the Tigers choked the last couple weeks. However, the Twins are about the only team in the league that I would root against vs Yankees. The Metrodome is a joke of a stadium. It would be a travesty for another World Series to be played there. All I can say is, GOOD RIDDANCE!!
