  • The rate of temperature rise is not unusual at all.Proxy records and the ice core data show that there has been much faster rises in the past. The rate of temperature rise in the 20s and 30s was the same as 1975-1998,and the ecosystem survived that one OK.

  • IS HE CALLING HIM JIM

  • Hey, can anyone give me some undisputed evidence that global warming is man made please? Lets see some answers......

    ....good luck.....

  • @10Rob11

Give me some that it's not.

  • youre looking for one piece, you'll never find it. there is, however, a massive body of evidence to support man made climate change. greenman3610 has some excellent videos on the subject and I'm sure he can direct you to the library of information that will answer your questions.

  • BTW, in the past, CO2 had little to do as a driver of climate. The increase of these gasses and of global temperatures in such a short period of time is directly linked to our activities. In other words, CO2 has never driven climate, untill now where its increase is FAR faster than any natural system would allow.

  • This environment crisis is coming front and center to human consciousness. Nature is the meanest accountant of all. She only measures greenhouse gasses not political gasses.....and she's extraordinarily honest about consequences. We are indeed on a dangerous course, and the possibility of positive feedback loops, any of several types, even offers the unappealing possibility that these affects could suddenly spike, and accelerate. We are all headed straight for a "different planet". Good video.

  • Those out there who think that the Earth can suport and unlimited number of people they are seriously deluded.

The Earth is no different to a bowl of goldfish. The environment of the bowl can only support a limited number of fish before space, food and pollution cause the population to crash.

All organisms living in a contained system (as is the Earth) if allowed to breed unchecked will reach a peak of population growth before it crashes to a level the enviroment can support.

  • I am an inventor & an environmental engineer. I do believe that I have a solution to the global warming/heating, food & water problem. Seriously !!! Can anyone suggest a way I can bring this idea to someone like Richard Branson who can execute?

  • OVereducated idiots that understand nothing except kissing ass to get ahead.

  • I'm sure when James LoveLock discovered that CFC's were depleting the Ozone Layer, people like you made the same claim. If it weren't for LoveLock, humanity would have a huge problem. No the greatest Environmentalist of our times is trying to give us a warning again... He was right the last time...

  • Now*.

We should listen to what he is saying.

  • heartofgaia, he can still be wrong though, he's a good scientist but not god. what people don't understand is that the theory of gaia alone is nowhere near enough to prove that global warming or whatever you want to call it is man made. There's actually very poor evidence that we're having any detrimental affect on the earth in terms of global warming. People say "can't you see it's warming??" and I say "yep... and that still proves nothing about the link you're trying to make."

  • @10Rob11

Its not just the Gaia Theory though. There is other evidence that points to warming. Without CO2, the planet would be about -18 degress Celsius.

  • @10Rob11

Also, Through the Carbon Cycle, over millions of years, by the work of millions of plants all of the energy they gathered from the sun over eons was stored in themselves which is what turned into fossil fuels. We are now releasing that stored energy through the combustion of fossil fuels. Since the advent of life 3.5 billion years ago the surface temperature of the planet remained at a temperature which allowed for the continuity of life.

  • @10Rob11

From the very birth of the sun to now, the star has increased energy output by 25%. The time where Earth was at the right temperature for life was 1 to 2 billion years ago however the Biosphere alters the chemistry, climate, and biological make up of the planet. In biology it is "like begets like, life begets life." Life will always adapt to its conditions however in the process of doing so it alters its environment. The result is selfreinforcing feedback cycle which form homeostasis

  • The Biosphere also alters the geological/geographical make up of the planet as well.

  • You have a misconception about climate change. NASA/NOAA and every single nat. scientific academy on the planet agree that humans are the most likely primary cause of the recent rapid rate of warming observed around the world. Its not the temp that scientists are worried about as it has been hot before, its the "rate" of warming that causes problems. Rapid changes are hard to adapt to. Plants don't breathe CO2, they photosynthesise it and they also release CO2 during the night when they respire.

  • @sharkblubber And when they decay, bacteria will also release more CO2.

  • the lovelock message of global warming is that economic growth cannot continue and you need to question the whole infastructure - become more independant from it. to rebel against corporate greed. how is that playing into the hands of your 'new world order'? sun cycles play a part in climate but they are not the deal breaker you have been lead to believe they are

  • you are quite right that greedy people are going to try to make money out of carbon taxes etc...but the fact of their greed does not mean that the scale of human activity is not impacting the living systems of the earth...the very systems we depend upon for life.

You need to disentangle these two different issues.

  • Do you swallow this corporate propaganda crap whole or do you chew it a bit before regurgitating? They told you spewing 10 billion tons of CO2 per year into the atmosphere is ok and you believe it? Do you think just maybe it's possible BOTH factors could be destabilizing the environment? We should gamble the future of the planet on the deniers being right? What insanity.

  • not much of a gamble cause man made global warming is a load of dog-toffee.
