i love the monologue of rosalind lol im doin it in theatre lol but phebe is a bitch!! silvius is nothing but good to her for her to be like that to him!!!
Ohh my goodness! You saved my buttox. I'm performing Phebe's last monologue in this scene and now I have a clearer view on how to perform it, THANKS :)
thank you for this! I have to perform and interpret Phebe's monologue, the one showing distaste towards the shepherd, for my final exam in my Shakespeare class. This will help plenty :)
thank you for uploading this. I'm doing the Phebe monologue that starts with "I would not be thy executioner" for Theatre Arts class, and wanted to see how the part had been played before so that I had something to reference in my head while doing my blocking. This was very helpful.
Helen Mirren is just amazing. An underrated Shakespearean who is often overshadowed by the equally brilliant Judi Dench. And I love the accents of the Silvius and Phebe in this!
Of course it's a book. He didn't call it a novel. It's a play in book form. In the first folio introductions they talk about how people will read these. They clearly intended them to not just be performed and watched but read as well.
Pheobe misses out a chunk. gutted.

I'm doing this scene right now for a Shakespearean unit in my drama class, and I play Rosalind. I think this is really well done!

Dude, Rosalind totally burned Phoebe, and yet she totally loves him. Poor Silvius...he should start insulting her.

Oh Silvius. How you amuse me. Any girl should be so lucky to have a sweet shepherd crawling about and clinging to her waist.

She does not sound at all like she's pretending to be a man. But then, I suppose this scenario was far-fetched to begin with.
