But, you can send it back to Magnum Research and have it matched to a .45-70 cylinder and be able to shoot a pretty potent round for a reasonable price.
If you want to cut down the recoil, add some weight. The best way to add weight would be a scope, in my opinion. I put one on my BFR in 460 S&W and it helped the recoil a lot. Quite a bit of muzzle blast with that, would love to see it at night...
Hey muggs...I just wanted to point out that you CAN get a .45-70 cylinder fit on that gun. The reason to do so is .45-70 is much cheaper. It can be loaded to the same ballistics as a .450 Marlin (this statement applies to handguns). Aside from the design of the brass case, the .450 and .45-70 are identical. Being more common, reloading the .45-70 is much cheaper...and you'll get the same thrill from pulling the trigger. Mag Research sells cylinders for about $150. Have fun blasting away Dude.

There's a few other rounds that are more powerful and faster than .500 magnum, i think .450 marlin is. .460 is even crazier. But these are all 'hunting' rounds, putting rifle power in that giant ass revolver of yours.
I'm just not a fan of .500 magnum, i like the other faster flying and harder hitting stuff. If i'm going to buy something that's chambered in not-fifty caliber, i'd buy i Desert eagle.

@surge1899 Surge, One thing this handgun does in 45-70 better than a 44 is that it shoots out to 100 yards as accurate as a rifle.. Most Single Action 44's I have seen or handled can shoot a 5 shot group of 3 and a half to 4 inches at 1 hundred yards.. The BFR in 45-70 can shoot a 2 inch group at 50 with open sights, and I have seen Groups under 2" at 100 yards when scoped.. It is a tool, not a toy.
i have one i hunt with, it can drop anything in lower 48 with one shot. I have better grips(a must) and halo sights(no black eyes), and gloves( due to cold and recoil). but the recoil is not too bad i sugguest porting your barrel a good gunsmith can do it.
While I've never used it, I came across a semi-automatic carbine that fires either 9mm or .40 s&w rounds. It's the Hi-Point 4095 and is a rifle that fires handgun ammo. It's very cheap, $100-$300 range.
Depends on where you live. Most gun stores carry it, but if they don't then they can order it for you. Or you could always reload your own if you want a certain load.
The .450 is the stronger of the two. It has 1/3 more power than the .45-70. The cool thing about getting either revolver is that for about $100 you can send the revolver in and have a cylinder fitted in the other caliber. For instance, I have the .450. Since the .450 and the .45-70 shoot the same bullet, I had it sent in and got a .45-70 cylinder for it. So now, I can shoot either cartridge out of the same revolver by only having to change the cylinder. I only takes about a minute to change.
