The joke is that in the english version it's a Steam Ship (SS) and in the german version this was unnecessarily changed to motor ship (MS) just because of the SS. BTW In Saarlouis you can get those plates if you show your ID to proof your initials.

I remember in my innocence of yesteryear I would stay on that boat for literally hours hoping to still be on it when it set sail, but for some reason it would always depart just as I left. It took me countless restarted saves before I realised it was scripted to leave just as I exited. It was one of my first ever heartbreaks, knowing I would never sail aboard the S.S. Anne. :(

@Ashbigbear People say that if you could glitch the SS Anne (Getting cut and then getting beat by a random trainer) once you get surf and strenght you can go back to the SS Anne and use Surf on the right side and find a truck that you could move with Strenght, under that truck there was supposed to be a mew, but actually there's a n easier way to get a mew on these versions :) Lavender town glitch FTW <3

@mattynator26 I'm guessing it's the same giltch, you must go to route 8 (have fly and the rainbow badge) then go close to the underground passage that goes to Celadon (Don't fight any trainers here, just for safety), you'll see a Gambler that appears as you walk in front of the UG Passage, you must make him see you when he appears on screen and quickly press start to open the menu and avoid the fight, use fly and go to Cerulean, you'll know the glitch woked when an "!" appears over the gambler's

@PKMNoldfan head, once you are in Cerulean you must go to route 25 and fight one of the youngsters (can't remember which of them is the correct one, but you must be able to avoid him when you go there for first time) after you defeat the youngster you must go back to Lavender (Notice: you'll notice that you can't open the menu when you arrive to Cerulean, and after the fight with the youngster you'll be able to open the menu again) then the next step is easy, just walk to route 8 again and the

The creepy part was there were no trucks/cars etc. in the pokemon world (at least at that time) and the fact that there was something unique there that had no purpose was fascinating.
