How much is a Beano No1 worth

Loved these comics as a kid. Threw mine out after reading them.  Who would have thought they would fetch such heady prices today? I now collect beano and dandy anniversary albums and will pass them on to my grandchildren when the time comes. Anyone for a cow pie?

Originals would be encased in plastic sleeves, not bare, nor would they be handled by the hosts; if they were handled at all, as opposed to simply being displayed, they would only be handled by the owner or the owner's representative, wearing gloves.

Don't they seem a little too pristine to be that old? Even copies of Action Comics #1 and Detective Comics #27 that still exist have some wear on them. Those two comics in the video were beyond perfect for their age and were being handled by hand. Something isn't right there...

The audience sound like they were having sex. I was expecting a women to come up to the camera and show her tits to it and a naked guy running from the audience all the while everyone in the audience going "wooooooooooow" and the naked guy comes up to the women and goes "wooow" and they slowly walk off camera and everything else go back to normal.. @homer4556 The cover was in colour, but most of the inside was in black and white. It's very hard to find one, as there are only 30-40 copies of The Dandy #1 known to be in circulation (and they aren't anywhere as good as those copies they had in this video)

I noticed they got the publishing dates wrong - the date printed is not the date it was published.

Anyway, I bought the Dandy until the relaunch. It was too much like a different comic altogether for my liking.

The Beano is now the last traditional comic - it's still going strong, but nowhere near as many readers as it's heyday.

I recently bought The Dandy (now The Dandy Xtreme) - it had only 6 comic strips and 11 pages of comics strips in total. That's in a 36 page comic! It had more strips and pages of strips when it was just 16 pages!

Anyway, I am writing and drawing a traditional style weekly online comic and it will be online next year.

£1. 25 now. It's still the cheapest comic though (The Dandy used to be joint cheapest comic, but it lost that in 2004 - it's now £1.99 for The Dandy, and was double the price of The Beano at one point!)
