  • 左足のクラーベとハイハットで、すでに5-wayになってしまってるのでは…?

  • I got #2 down pat and now im working on #3!!!

  • mmm took me a long time to understand that is useless trying to do this if you don´t know first how to play at least the basic rythms of congas, or timbal, or bongoes... and at least having mastered songo basic, samba basic and jazz basic

  • Also, although not as known, is a rythmic system of Hindu music called Konnokol (or something like that), a great rythm system that John Mclaughlin has made it more well known (learned from his exchange with Indian musicians). Danny Carey too said that his time practicing with Aloke Dutta (a very well known indian percussionist and tabla player) made him improve on his rythmic style and technique and on executing polyrythms with far more effectiveness.

  • Akira's the best, and he's right, many afro-cuban rythms are polyrythmic, that's why latin jazz drummers that mostly base around those kind of rythms also have (generally) great independence. Another great example: Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez. Great two drummers!

  • wow, that was easy

  • I'll go study cuban rhythms first, then I'll go akira jimbo's style

  • i lost it at 6.00. obscene.

  • Cool, I can play all that until 1:04....

  • jesus christ that was hard, I had to practice like 25-30 minutes untill I got that 4-way independence

  • His limbs are so independent, they have separate email accounts!

  • @druminid HAHAHAHAHAHA! They're so independent, when they try to sign him up to play, it's 4 contracts they have to make, not one xD

  • got almost got it after trying for 6 hours non stop...and over the next week i finally mastered what h plays here but....HOW ON EARTH DO YOU PLAY THE CLAVE INDEPENDENTLY WHILE SOLING!!!?!?!?!!?!?!?!? WTF!!!!

  • Akira = God

  • This is simply insane.

  • i can imagine jimbo's hands and feet each having minds of their own and talking to each other during their free time

  • It took me ca. 1 month just to teach myself the very first pattern... then I listened to my own recording and it wasn't quite musical ;-). Yes it takes enormous discipline. There's a massive truckload of information packed in this free 6-minute video that could entertain us drummers for years, even decades. Kudos to Mr. Jimbo!

  • This is a tutorial from "Advanced drumming for cyborgs doing things humans never could do, ever: Volume 19992832 and a half"

  • FUCK!!!! ITS FUCKIG IMPOSSIBLE!!!! I CANT DO THAT SHIT!!! HES FUCKING AWESOME!!!!

  • i have dvd called learn master drums and theres a guy on the dvd named andy smith hes a drum teacher in nashville and he demonstrated some intresting ways to use son clave and rumba clave and some latin rythms with running 16 ths on bass drum why playing the rythms with hands .

  • his an cyboralien man hahah damn

  • reminds me the movie The Man With One Red Shoe with tom hanks hahaha:P

    sorry.

akira is the best playing on live loops!

  • @TheRodrigoaquino lol i agree totally.

But the red and blue shoe it woks trust me on this 1

  • i'll try. i promise....

  • @xagaoo this might take while because i got the part were you add the cow bell..........

  • its like. songo but with a clave cowbell. easy shit

  • @rbert33 ha ! yeah right.

  • this dude got like 4 brains. one 4 each limb

  • i want his fuckin' snare drum!

  • i play that

it took me about to six months

i couldnt get that dayum clave

and all of a sudden it i was in class it just came to me :)

this beat is great over the song manteca ;)

  • man dis is impossible by human standards. he cant be human

  • Haha I like how he makes it seems like you can get in about 2 minutes when it actually takes month or even years!! Jimbo is INSANE

  • esse cara é fogo... isso que é independência meu..

  • this is not easy folks..furthermore, Akira is not human. Android drumming here people, ANDROID DRUMMING..lol

  • "relativery"

  • This stuff is the most challeging I´ve ever tried. It´s fantastic to improve control and it´s fun to play heh.

I do paradiddles and other rudiments above the feet ostinato (in normal 2/3 clave and rumba clave) and then I change the right foot pattern to "strong" (on the beat) 8th notes and "weak" 8th notes (syconpated). I´ve found that helps to gain control and independence in the left foot.

  • yes! i've learned patter #2!!

  • Chino sucio!!! jajaja xD

  • wow i taught this to a 10 year old and he picked it up quicker then i did. i think its about forgetting the way we view rhythms as interdependent on each other. ie... right hand holds time, while the rest of the limbs compliment. took me a while to learn this stuff only because i had to re-learn how to learn rhythms.

  • Insane.

    There´s only 3 possible explanations:

    1) He´s a cyborg

    2) He´s a alien

    3) He´s an alien cyborg

  • jajajajaja very fun comment!

  • @YanusDV two words---- MARCO MINNEMAN

  • @dallyson

    yeah!

  • Comment removed

  • @YanusDV 4 : hes godzilla

  • @YanusDV THATS THE FUCKIN ANSWER MAN !!! :D

  • I can play the first one (that's a start !!)

  • i only just mastered it today!!!but i mess up occasionally...akira jimbo is mad!

  • insane.

  • Akira is bad ass.

  • I believe Japan is the leader in robotics. Consider, perhaps, that Akira is a robot!.... right?

  • Here's the Japanese Horacio Hernandez.

  • He said that he became aware of 4 way independence recently but he plays it like he has been doing it for years.

  • But wasn't this video made in the 90s?

  • Step #8 is absolutely insane.

  • the man is a beast!

  • uh...yeah sure Akira, whatever you say

    this ain't no beginner's lesson

  • yeah "once you get this down"...are you kidding me???

  • it's all about the two cymbal shot's at the end of each rhythm

  • Comment removed

  • this video is the prefect example of globalisation... a Japanese guy teaching cuban stuff. o.O..

Akira is really a great drummer to do what 4 separated guys do at the same time... wow!!

  • i got the first one down... but cant get the second one..... its mind game and drumming mixed together!! gahhh!!

  • its witch craft, voodoo druming ! Akira is not from this planet...i think thats the best description I can give in regards to his style...the man is a BEAST !!!!

  • Ya lost me on step two

  • it's easy to do it........if you have a red and a blue pointy shoes....

  • ...and throw away all of your comb :-D

  • @bennylam17 ... or if you are an alien cyborg in a red and a blue pointy shoes. :)))

  • @bennylam17 Nope, I've tryied....

  • Amazing

  • ugghhhhh i'm learning latin patterns right now...I play all styles, hard rock, metal and jazz and I have to say the latin and afro-cuban styles are by far the hardest...makes everything else much easier though once you get it. You have total control over everything you do!

  • That's fucking insane

  • don't worry guys, it's not that we're incapable, it's because akira actually has 4 brains - one for each limb.

  • But that's so unfair :-(

  • sumtin chalengin

  • hard to try... i am going on xD

  • My head is still spinning. I wish there was some sheet music that went along with the patterns. Would help me learn it a lot easier.

  • well before this we have to learn how to rock the red and blue boots...

  • Wow this is soooo helpful esp for polyrhythms....

  • what the fuck did i just see... :|

  • Something very hard to do being done very well.

  • yeah..forget it

  • amazing!!!!!!!!!!

  • Haha, did anyone notice the subtitles said "I learned about this RELATIVERY recently"? lmao

  • no he's just talking about HIS way of 4 way independence (:

  • Opening highhat and playing clave while soloing an Afro Cuban pattern; I think I'll pass.

  • i remember my first time messing with latin it was to this video. i spent a full day learning the first 3 exercises. my brain had never hurt so bad in my entire life. lol.

  • estoy "cacatto"

  • wow this has been the most educational drum clip i've seen in like a year

  • love the shoes

  • ironic that i have come to learn lots about latin rythms from a japanese lol.. and I am latin..

great video!! keep uploading stuff like this!!

  • Crazy! Four drummers on one akira jimbo!

  • I'm not even gonna try... This is too crazy!

  • LOL..Don't try this at home!!

  • Love the sound of his snare.
