Why don't you add some more fake plants and driftwood to create separate territories at the very least... Your tank is basically empty and there is no way those fish can claim their own areas.....
The rule for multiple male Bettas is 4 feet of room per male (so about 55 gallons per male, 110 needed for 2) To avoid any serious conflict. (Of course you can keep 2 males in a 110 with a bunch of other fish ^.^) There are a few success stories of 55+ gallons with a male and females, but to have multiple Bettas you need a LOT of space and a LOT of hiding places.
You can see whats going on here. The blue is the dominant one and the red and white is his little no2....... for now as that could change at any time especially if the red one decides to challenge the blue one and because they are both established in the tank any further male additions would be toasted by the pair of them. Not a great idea to carry on with them together you can see the red one hates the blue one anyways and there was very nearly a run-in between 1.00 and 1.09

iv had 6 males in a 50 gal and they never even touched each other the guy at the store said they were all female so i got them and a t firsh they started flaring but after 10 mins they all claimed terotory and now 2 years lateri got a half moon and it got beat up very slightly but it clamed terotory too its funny cause i have 12 gouramis 2 of each types and a male parodise fish and barbs and the all leave each other alone
Yay more male bettas living together, I thought my big boys were the only ones!I have 2 halfmoon males liven together with 1 female getting a 2nd female soon and the have not flared at each other once they live together in a 10 gallon and are perfect! My males are all alm never stressed and are always swimming eating but not swimming to fast, lolz One is a marble blue and white with a shimer to his scales His name is Poppy. Then there is my other male who is black with a metallic looking scales :)
As long as the tank is big enough for them to stake out their own territory, it can be done. I've heard of a dude who had like 12 in a 55 gallon tank...heavily planted, and they never crossed into each other's territory...and all lived fine.
Wow, these two fish are so tired from chasing one another that they can barely swim. I don't care what you people say. If you love your bettas, you will separate them. If you want to find one or both of your fish dead some day due to stress, illness, or outright being attacked by his "friend", then go ahead, keep them together. Stupid, stupid people.
They're not getting along. They're just too tired to chase each other any more. ALL healthy male bettas, even if they're siblings, will try to rip other males to shreds. I don't see a heater or a filter in your tank, which is probably why they're so lazy and tired. I don't even know why anyone would put two FIGHTING fish together. Was it a cheap thrill gone wrong?
I have a red male beta and name is ruby im wondering if he would get along with another MALE beta, he seem pretty easy going 4 exmaple i put him in front of the mirror and he just swam away from it! Should or should i not? Comment back
These bettas are so worn out from chasing one another! Poor things. As you can see from the video the blue one is trying to chase away the cambodian one with the energy he has left. Please separate these fish. I don't care how long they have been living together. They aren't happy.
Yes they can. If they are from the same spawn, or brothers, they more than likely won't fight. There may be a tussle over dominance and some fin nipping.
If you love them, give it time, and be very vigilant. At some point fin nipping will start, and then you'll have short aggressive bursts of bullying. Then its time to get them into their own tank. I'm already seeing the bullying by the darker male, so just be careful, and don't push your luck for the sake of saying that you kept two males together. There will come a day where they will prove you wrong, and I would hate to hear that one died because of it.
@FiestyCat86 if there in a big tank and have room to themselves they should be fine. i had my fighting fish for 6 years and i put him in tanks with others they both survived and didnt fight at all. as long as they have space, they will be fine :)
@BecRaper Then you got lucky, I have eight bettas and I have to keep them all separated, I can't even keep my females together because they attack one another. And the real kicker is that I thought they were all gentle fish with sweet languid personalities. Truth is...in a tank environment, there is never going to be enough room for them to get away from one another and they will never really be happy. Trust me they WANT to be alone.
@FiestyCat86 they are quite gentle. yes i got lucky haha. it does put stress on them to be with others in the same tank but they kind of get used to it. i usually only had them in there temporaraly like when i was moving or cleaning there cage. but there were longer times. i guess it depends on the fishes personality. sound gay, yes but it does :)
@FiestyCat86 ALSO when you buy them stay and watch them for a bit there is always a gentle on that will usually just stare at you thats the one to choose because it has taken a liking to you.
@FiestyCat86 I have 3 females and 2 bristlenoses in a well planted and rocky (heaps of caves) 110L aquarium and they get along perfectly. They have their own pecking order, and two of them like to stick together, they don't fight or nip each other. With the right natural conditions they live very well together. Most people don't bother with rocks/caves or plants, so there is nowhere to hide. 1 Plastic plant isn't enough people! They are lovely fish though =D
I did try to put my females together, but...they fought. I have since done some experimenting, and found that I am typically drawn to the flashy, aggressive bettas and therefore my opinion on whether two females can be kept together is a bit skewed. I have since acquired a pair of sweet natured cinnamon reds and they are currently coexisting until I can get Sidle a tank of her own. They have rocks and caves and several plants to play in and are doing well, so I retract my prior statements.
This is okay. Some male bettas are a lot less aggressive than others, and will do fine if with another male, as long as plentiful space is provided. It's just like keeping a male betta with gouramis or huge finned fancy guppies.
how did you get the two males to live together like that. i've had bettas in the past live peacefully with other fish, but i was always afraid to try two betta together since they get pissed at their own reflection
Guppies should not be with a Betta. Your Betta's are both very stressed and are not going to last long. You are a bad fish keeper! Plus tank is overstocked.
@atworkguy Guppies can live with bettas! There like, the number one fish you can keep with bettas. (I have a male and a female and kept guppies with them.)
they are really stressed, and the blue one is obviosly the dominant one! this will be very stressful for both of them!!!! move one to another tank!.....also i dont think the guppies are a good idea with them!! the only reason they are living together is because they are both to scared to do anything...this can and most of the time will end sadly:(
your whiteish viel tail is nice, it has the colours of a koi!. but, this will not last, i have tried multiple times with different bettas and it never works.
why would you ever put two together in the first place? It doesn't look like they are getting along too well.. the blue one is constinatly stalking the white/red one
They are fighting. Throughout the entire video the blue one is chasing the other around. It just doesn't look like it because your fish looks too stressed and lethargic to care enough anymore.
My bettas used to jump the divider to hang out with eachother. They never showed any signs of fighting I would just come home and they would be on the same side of the tank. They were 1 1/2 and 2 years old at the time. When I added height to the barrier so they couldn't jump, one of them became lethargic and died.
i have a betta that thinks he's a freaking goldfish. he lives with a medium sized goldfish and 4 zebra danios, and he follows the goldfish around like a lost puppy...or better yet, an annoying little brother/sister. he sucks on the gravel and does all kinds of goldfish activities. on the other hand, my other betta has killed everything i've tried to put with him. = [ i'm thinking about having more than one betta in my community tank though.
They dont fight because there not matured. I have kept bettas and keep bettas and while there less then a year old if you keep them with enough space that they cant get too terrortorial over there usually fine. however buying too fully matured bettas and putting them together they will get nasty at some point.
bettas are just like pitbulls. people buy them and make them fight (not you) bettas are nice fish. just like any other.its hard to explain what im saying. but they arent cold hearted. do you get what im saying?
I doubt it's the guppies, looks like they're just individually not aggressive. I personally can't put anything with my betta (so aggressive), so where did you buy yours? What was in the tank first the guppies or the bettas? did you buy them at the same time?
i bought one and they gave me the pink betta but i had the bettas in the tank first with a divider for like 2 monthsthen i put half the guppies in one and the other half with the other betta for about 2 weeks then i removed the divider. the bettas at first they were aggressive toward each other
ick sucks. its a paracite and the white spot is the fish's emune system reacting to the paracite. it lives on the fish for around a week depending on the temp then drops off and reproduces. if u turn the temp to over 30 degrees it cant reproduce and dies off. my betta was very sick with it, didnt look good but got better week after i turned the temp up.
it can live in their gills for months untill they get stressed or poorly
i once had 2 male bettas and 3 female bettas with some other community fish live all peacefully with eachother for about 7 months then my tank came down with a horrible diases called ick and all my fishes died so i tried putting bettas together again but it didnt work. the females were 1 pink with a red tail, 1 metalic blue, 1 brown boddy with red fins, my males were, 1 red finned with a blue trim on them and it had a red body and 1 green/blue they were all from different petstores
dude-this may not turn out to be a good thing....i put two males together one time and came back to find one dead. (trust me) just trying to help......but love the bettas! =)
Woah o.O never thought it'd be possible lol. Maybe not a good idea to keep those guppies in there because of the long fin, but it depends on your bettas...
the blue one is following the other one, but doesn´t attack. i think it´´s because the other doesn´t want to fight and respects the blue as the stronger one.
it´s very nice that they can live together=)
only two from ten betta males can live with other fish in piece, and i think there are even less betta males that can live together with other males.
hey! didnt you see the blue one folowing the other one? see there is no proof they were getting along, he even threatened to attack him wich is worse!
didnt you read below dat dis video is one year old and the blue one is setting terretory here in this video dat was only the first couple days now none of them chase each other they eat together and the guppies to
Wow! do they never fight? in the clip they look like they have established a pecking order-you must have got lucky with two fairly peaceful males although I'm not sure it's healthy for the one being chased all the time, stress can take it's toll over time. the guppies don't surprise me-I've only once had a betta that was aggressive to guppies, mine hardly gives them a second glance and I have some really fancy gups! what made you decide to put the males together?
no no no you only see this video what yall dont see is that they are getting along one just established territorial rights as you seen in the video after this it was all good no fighting plus the bitten fins thats how i got him from a friends fish tank
But that's one of the things I like about Betta's. They have the looks but having to keep them apart stops people from having millions of Betta's in one tank.
my bettas are still alive and living together the guppys are okay to no fighting has been going on they feed toghether to.ive added a couple fish and der okay still.who ever doubt'ed me you were wrong they can co-excist its easy it takes time tho.
It's possible because all of the bettas(puddlefish) that are bred here are a bunch of pussies. They have no fighting instinct. It's 200th generation, the fight is gone. Put a real one in there, lol it's tons of fun to watch.
it is possible, i have done it before with little or no problem, however, it is only because one fish (blue) is dominant and the other (light coloured) accepts that, but a little change in amount of food, new fish, or even a near by female, could change it drastically
sooo sad i feel soo bad this is soo wrong your a bad person they should never live in peace fight they shall to the death of course if not judgment will come to all your fish i will sneak into your house and introduce my plakat ahahahahahaaaaaaa nah nice video dude nice song tooo
Wow, you really are an idiot! Bettas should NEVER live together in a tank. Even if they don't immediately fight they WILL eventually fight and probably both will die due to injuries. As if keeping two Bettas in there isn't stupid enough you've got guppies in there with them!! LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT FISH BEFORE YOU GET THEM!! As for anyone else reading this, DO NOT follow any advice given by this person or any other moron who tells you that you can keep two Bettas together. It is cruel and WRONG!
I think only the males have to be kept apart. Females can be kept together if there are more than four. Apparently, they establish a hierarchy and can coexist. I've seen it work for years at a time. I would not recommend it though. Some females are more aggressive than others.
I tried that with a young betta and an adult, the younger one bit of part of the adult's tail of,but the young betta died a month ago the adult is still alive.
only when placed in a small enviroment but when placed in a much larger space than a jar or bowl the weaker one can run away and and give the dominant assurance that he is dominant so he will no longer harass the other one. plus there are no females so they don't fight for breeding either. also if you crowd the tank with bettas it lowers aggression.
It makes no difference how big the tank is, you will still wake up one day to a massacre. Domestic bettas are nothing like their wild betta ancestors. This is downright irresponsible, but I suppose it's slightly better than actual betta fighting.
I wont say that male/male betta cohabitation isnt possible but i will say that when your betta hangs around the top of the tank and doesnt move much....it is a sign of stress and/or unhappiness....as for the shredded fins..they will grow back but probably not with these two co-habitating...the shredding is from fighting unless there is discoloration present....then its an illness
they shouldn't be kept together because it may seem like they are fine and just CHASING each other. But because of their nature they will start to fight. Also is it safe to keep guppies in the same tank with a sinlge male betta?
r u ppl like fuckin retarded the red 1 if u didnt notice swam TOWARDS the blue 1 the blue 1 was simply telling him 2 bac off an the shredded fins could mean he has a infection or sumthin not nessacarily fighting there is little hiding space yes but the tank Is big enough
U cant change hundreds of years of instinct. Keeping males together is irresponsible and just stresses the weaker one, the shredded fins say they do fight
Imagine you're living in a big room where you could have food and drink, but you're locked in and cannot escape. Now imagine there's someone else who lives there who is much stronger than you and beats you at will, and you cannot leave. What kind of a life would that be? That's what your red betta is dealing with.
i forgot to say that we have a ridiculous amount of hiding space for our fish. haha. i think its ok to several betas in a tank as long as the tanks big enough and there is enough cover in it.
my fiance' and i have a 55 gal and at one point we had three males in there. they got along just fine and never pestered each other. as a matter of fact, they messed with the dwarf gouramis more than each other.
that is retarded you should get them seperated because they will kill. and i do agree also that the red one is going to have to swim away his whole life.
I agree with inspector, that's cruel. The red betta will live his entire life running from the blue one. You didn't offer ANY place to hide at all, and have them in a tiny tank to boot. Male betta's fight, yours are no exception. There are a lot of fish who won't fight until they get of age to establish territory. So expect to one day come home and find one of them dead because you think you are such a badass fish keeper that yours won't fight. Mark my words. I will happen.
It's pretty obvious the blue one has already whipped the red one and established dominance. The red one moves away every time the blue one approaches. With nowhere else to go in that small a tank, and no good hiding places, that's pretty cruel. Not much of a life for the red one.
first of all i wasnt tryn 2 spell rite second of all i own a tank full of bettas not 1 of them ever fought or showed aggression towards each other an third of all ur dat lonely that u have 2 email this 2 me
Why don't you add some more fake plants and driftwood to create separate territories at the very least... Your tank is basically empty and there is no way those fish can claim their own areas.....

To have multiple male together, you need a big aquarium and a lot of plants. I've got three male in a 220L and lots of plants.
Your males are obviously stressed, Possesing two male in an aquarium doesn't mean you just put, you have to take care of them.

I have kept bettas and keep bettas and while there less then a year old if you keep them with enough space that they cant get too terrortorial over there usually fine. however buying too fully matured bettas and putting them together they will get nasty at some point.

bosnianharis123 2 years ago
Awe how cute they follow eachother and everything

obviously you can keep betas together, one just has to be dominant.

Male: long tail and color full
Female:short tails and dull colors

I doubt it's the guppies, looks like they're just individually not aggressive. I personally can't put anything with my betta (so aggressive), so where did you buy yours? What was in the tank first the guppies or the bettas? did you buy them at the same time?
nokittymypotpi3 2 years ago
i bought one and they gave me the pink betta but i had the bettas in the tank first with a divider for like 2 monthsthen i put half the guppies in one and the other half with the other betta for about 2 weeks then i removed the divider. the bettas at first they were aggressive toward each other
94integraguy 2 years ago
nice to see two male bettas together (to the betta noobs it all depends on individual temper, and space). So how big is your tank?
nokittymypotpi3 2 years ago
10 gallons plus the guppies distract them
94integraguy 2 years ago
like all fish it has to do with their individual temperament, also larger tanks help keep the peace
linaniXD 2 years ago 3
imagine the two male bettas were gay lol
xxkrb87xx 2 years ago
I bet one of them is already dead or maybe both!
shacks29 2 years ago
ick sucks. its a paracite and the white spot is the fish's emune system reacting to the paracite. it lives on the fish for around a week depending on the temp then drops off and reproduces. if u turn the temp to over 30 degrees it cant reproduce and dies off. my betta was very sick with it, didnt look good but got better week after i turned the temp up.
it can live in their gills for months untill they get stressed or poorly
shigllgetcha 2 years ago
i once had 2 male bettas and 3 female bettas with some other community fish live all peacefully with eachother for about 7 months then my tank came down with a horrible diases called ick and all my fishes died so i tried putting bettas together again but it didnt work. the females were 1 pink with a red tail, 1 metalic blue, 1 brown boddy with red fins, my males were, 1 red finned with a blue trim on them and it had a red body and 1 green/blue they were all from different petstores

Haha thats neat. :D though if they are still getting along, and the guppies are in the same tank I would recommend a filter, for the guppies. :D

Woah o.O never thought it'd be possible lol. Maybe not a good idea to keep those guppies in there because of the long fin, but it depends on your bettas...
GnarkelsProductions 2 years ago
the blue one is following the other one, but doesn´t attack. i think it´´s because the other doesn´t want to fight and respects the blue as the stronger one.
it´s very nice that they can live together=)
only two from ten betta males can live with other fish in piece, and i think there are even less betta males that can live together with other males.

94integraguy 2 years ago
hey! didnt you see the blue one folowing the other one? see there is no proof they were getting along, he even threatened to attack him wich is worse!
Nebula1334 2 years ago
didnt you read below dat dis video is one year old and the blue one is setting terretory here in this video dat was only the first couple days now none of them chase each other they eat together and the guppies to
94integraguy 2 years ago
That is the biggest stupidest lie I've ever heard!!! Look at the fins!! They are all torn up!!!! You need to separate them!!!
Tarantulaboy1997 2 years ago
thats how i got him moron no lie and no i dont need to separate them they dont fight and he got his fins back god these people who just talk
94integraguy 2 years ago
Sorry!!
Tarantulaboy1997 2 years ago
Wow! do they never fight? in the clip they look like they have established a pecking order-you must have got lucky with two fairly peaceful males although I'm not sure it's healthy for the one being chased all the time, stress can take it's toll over time. the guppies don't surprise me-I've only once had a betta that was aggressive to guppies, mine hardly gives them a second glance and I have some really fancy gups! what made you decide to put the males together?
weebluealien 2 years ago
no no no you only see this video what yall dont see is that they are getting along one just established territorial rights as you seen in the video after this it was all good no fighting plus the bitten fins thats how i got him from a friends fish tank

But that's one of the things I like about Betta's. They have the looks but having to keep them apart stops people from having millions of Betta's in one tank.
thatkid175 3 years ago
those guppies help distract the betta's from fighting each other.
lyanasmile 3 years ago
yup the guppies destract the bettas , thats part of my secret to this coe-existence of my two bettas
94integraguy 3 years ago
those males aren't probably aggresive.

is there a difference in these and a siamese fighting fish?

Excellent job! I don't even dare put fancy guppies into my tank with my betta, let alone another male betta; and you've conquered both!
Kudos

you can have 2 or more male bettas if their either from the same family or if there is females for each.
evothefool 3 years ago
my bettas are still alive and living together the guppys are okay to no fighting has been going on they feed toghether to.ive added a couple fish and der okay still.who ever doubt'ed me you were wrong they can co-excist its easy it takes time tho.
94integraguy 3 years ago
It's possible because all of the bettas(puddlefish) that are bred here are a bunch of pussies. They have no fighting instinct. It's 200th generation, the fight is gone. Put a real one in there, lol it's tons of fun to watch.
chibicheebs 3 years ago
are they still alive?
kimchi53 3 years ago
and you have guppies i dont know how u did it
Atlantefan88 3 years ago
it is possible i have done it before
fingerskate36 3 years ago
it is possible, i have done it before with little or no problem, however, it is only because one fish (blue) is dominant and the other (light coloured) accepts that, but a little change in amount of food, new fish, or even a near by female, could change it drastically
MRGOTITGETIT 3 years ago
there probably not aggressive so yea
pongmoua1 3 years ago
although two males living together is not recommended it is not completely out of the question
beturlifeonit 3 years ago
When my fish chased each other i would put a net in the way and they stopped after two-three days :)
majesticmec 3 years ago
sooo sad i feel soo bad this is soo wrong your a bad person they should never live in peace fight they shall to the death of course if not judgment will come to all your fish i will sneak into your house and introduce my plakat ahahahahahaaaaaaa nah nice video dude nice song tooo
reinaldolozada 3 years ago
There is a little tension the blue one was chasing the other.
But i think you can pull this off if you work with them. Still need to be on alert though, because like many say they will fight to the death
TheDominoEffect09 3 years ago
Wow, you really are an idiot! Bettas should NEVER live together in a tank. Even if they don't immediately fight they WILL eventually fight and probably both will die due to injuries. As if keeping two Bettas in there isn't stupid enough you've got guppies in there with them!! LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT FISH BEFORE YOU GET THEM!! As for anyone else reading this, DO NOT follow any advice given by this person or any other moron who tells you that you can keep two Bettas together. It is cruel and WRONG!
Phloxface 3 years ago
I think only the males have to be kept apart. Females can be kept together if there are more than four. Apparently, they establish a hierarchy and can coexist. I've seen it work for years at a time. I would not recommend it though. Some females are more aggressive than others.
lifeboatsss 3 years ago
I tried that with a young betta and an adult, the younger one bit of part of the adult's tail of,but the young betta died a month ago the adult is still alive.
jmaclol2341 3 years ago
how the holy cow fuck did you pull that off??

if u got skill and brains u can have 2 males togheter :) just let them grown up togheter tehre simple as heck :)
Eigeroo 3 years ago 2
wtf???????? that's impossible they will fite each other like heck???
bettalord 3 years ago
only when placed in a small enviroment but when placed in a much larger space than a jar or bowl the weaker one can run away and and give the dominant assurance that he is dominant so he will no longer harass the other one. plus there are no females so they don't fight for breeding either. also if you crowd the tank with bettas it lowers aggression.
cosbyfish 3 years ago
It makes no difference how big the tank is, you will still wake up one day to a massacre. Domestic bettas are nothing like their wild betta ancestors. This is downright irresponsible, but I suppose it's slightly better than actual betta fighting.
sn4pdr4g0ns 3 years ago
its simple: they are both gay!!!
canadian189 3 years ago 3
I wont say that male/male betta cohabitation isnt possible but i will say that when your betta hangs around the top of the tank and doesnt move much....it is a sign of stress and/or unhappiness....as for the shredded fins..they will grow back but probably not with these two co-habitating...the shredding is from fighting unless there is discoloration present....then its an illness
Akciss 3 years ago
they shouldn't be kept together because it may seem like they are fine and just CHASING each other. But because of their nature they will start to fight. Also is it safe to keep guppies in the same tank with a sinlge male betta?
emilyandkaitlinz 3 years ago
r u ppl like fuckin retarded the red 1 if u didnt notice swam TOWARDS the blue 1 the blue 1 was simply telling him 2 bac off an the shredded fins could mean he has a infection or sumthin not nessacarily fighting there is little hiding space yes but the tank Is big enough
Rottentigers 3 years ago
U cant change hundreds of years of instinct. Keeping males together is irresponsible and just stresses the weaker one, the shredded fins say they do fight
83jimis 3 years ago
Imagine you're living in a big room where you could have food and drink, but you're locked in and cannot escape. Now imagine there's someone else who lives there who is much stronger than you and beats you at will, and you cannot leave. What kind of a life would that be? That's what your red betta is dealing with.
9i991es 3 years ago
i forgot to say that we have a ridiculous amount of hiding space for our fish. haha. i think its ok to several betas in a tank as long as the tanks big enough and there is enough cover in it.
swilder2006 3 years ago
my fiance' and i have a 55 gal and at one point we had three males in there. they got along just fine and never pestered each other. as a matter of fact, they messed with the dwarf gouramis more than each other.
swilder2006 3 years ago
They aren't coexisting. You can plainly see the blue one attacking the other. Eventually they'll probably rip up your guppies' fins too.
You should be ashamed.
leecristo 3 years ago 2
they both look ok living together
ghettoafrobboy 3 years ago
that is retarded you should get them seperated because they will kill. and i do agree also that the red one is going to have to swim away his whole life.
eley54 3 years ago 2
I agree with inspector, that's cruel. The red betta will live his entire life running from the blue one. You didn't offer ANY place to hide at all, and have them in a tiny tank to boot. Male betta's fight, yours are no exception. There are a lot of fish who won't fight until they get of age to establish territory. So expect to one day come home and find one of them dead because you think you are such a badass fish keeper that yours won't fight. Mark my words. I will happen.
robbie6642 3 years ago 3
It's pretty obvious the blue one has already whipped the red one and established dominance. The red one moves away every time the blue one approaches. With nowhere else to go in that small a tank, and no good hiding places, that's pretty cruel. Not much of a life for the red one.
inspector58 3 years ago 4
da blue 1's fins are shreded worst den the red 1's dont dat tell u something
Rottentigers 3 years ago
Yes that tells me 3 things.
1. You don't know anything about Bettas.
2. You can't spell.
3. It's cruel to make these fish live like this.

first of all i wasnt tryn 2 spell rite second of all i own a tank full of bettas not 1 of them ever fought or showed aggression towards each other an third of all ur dat lonely that u have 2 email this 2 me
