06:20 If console CoD players face off against PC players, aren't the PC players going to be crippled sight-wise as the field of view in those games is pretty low?
My favorite puzzle game series, Professor Layton, is being continued on the 3DS, but I can't look at 3D very long without getting a splitting migraine. Yes, I can turn it off, but why would I do that if that's what I payed for? Its like buying an HDTV with all the trimmings when you only watch local channels in standard. Or paying for a high end, top of the line PC when all you use it for is writing Word documents. Sure I'm missing out on some of my favorite series, but it doesn't seem worth it.

@lotmein20 Speed isn't what I'm pointing to, it's control. Joysticks can move just as fast as a mice if you just increase the sensitivity, but mice can outperform joysticks because you have more muscles controlling it. By that note, players with motion sensors will have more control than players with mice.
Once people get used to this new way to play a game (the new learning curve being the only impediment) I know they'll out perform the mouse.

FFxi was also on Playstation, xbox and PC. Granted that was a mmo, but I played with an xbox, ps2, ps3 and PC players all at the same time. For shooters I could see it not working well, due to the mouse and keyboard issue as TB said.
Once motion sensor technology really ramps up (move, kinect) then I'm betting that not only will console's be able to at least hold their own against PC owners, but I'm betting they'll actually start winning consistently.
With a thumbstick you only have the muscles in your thumb to aim with, with a mouse it's your hand, but with a kinect you have your whole freakin' body. That's an astronomically larger amount of control, and competitive PC gamer will find themselves trailing in the dust.
@Influx27 They have motion controllers like the kinect but for pc so your argument is invalid. Not to mention you can use any console's controller on the pc instead of just using keyboard and mouse. If anything it's the consoles that are trailing in the dust. haha

I responded in kind (though with a bit more factual accuracy than he used), after which things kinda got ugly. In my own defense, while I did respond to his rudeness with rudeness, I also pointed him towards my more useful discussion with lotmein20.
I'm serious. He mentions it occasionally go look it up its a very cheap very fun open-style 1st person shooter. You choose a race and can use magic to ressurect your team mates in 1-life modes, heal your self, or even summon a minion. Orrrrr..... you can choose to use some crazy ass tech to fly around and see through walls and run super fast to snipe peoples heads.

well capcom really doesnt care about the western market for Monster Hunter. It sells millions on PSP or handheld in Japan. Their main market is Japan with that franchise. They do not really give a damn about the western market for the title. They release it for the maybe hundred thousand people who care about it here in the USA and the EU.
@janenba352 Whether that is true or not, which I would never claim to know, it is still a mistake to ignore a western market, considering how freaking massive it is. To some degree, it is about developing good will. The more Capcom frustrates me in general, the less I will be willing to buy more of their games, which is a shame since they used to be my favorite gaming company.

Anyway, Monster Hunter isn't the type of game western gamers enjoy playing, The Wii version is proof of that as there are millions more Wiis in the US and EU than the PS3 or 360, it doesnt sell well. Also there are still millions of PSP users on the two regions too and the MH games have sold horribly. Face it, the game is more Japanese centric like many games made in Japan.
About the second mail, kind of relevant: I remember hearing about an FPS coming out for Xbox 360 and PS3 that would link in with EVE Online, where PC gamers could ask the console gamers to kill certain targets down on the surface of certain planets.
I really like that idea, because it merges the console and PC gamer community, but on the other hand, it's not a great idea because it creates an artificial segregation. "Those silly console gamers down on the ground while we do the real work..."
I just wanna say that, you CAN mute people in the game.. just bring up the score board ( default tab ) and if they have talked during the game, theirs a voice icon apearing at their name, you just click that and then their muted.
when it comes to muting your self.. just turn off your mic, even though this stops you from talking to people in other programs while playing.. but if i find another way to mute your self, i'll make another comment.
@Burlycoot Yah, you have to wait till the game starts up, press tab while you can be killed and spend your time clicking off 15 people in the game that can change when someone leaves then joins the game. TB and most of us want an option to just have it all off to begin with.

I tend to play my DSi at home these days, though it has come in handy in the past while waiting for things. Mind you, I've only had one game on it for the past three years or so, haha. I've seen kids gather to play PSP and DS (among other things, such as card games); so yeah, there is a much greater handheld social aspect here in Japan.
Capcom and Nintendo both have to get it together. Zelda: Skyward Sword looks so crap!

Capcom is just odd. You mentioned with the Monster Hunter series that the western market just doesn't use handhelds. One of the games i've been dying to see released here in the US was Monster Hunter Frontier, an MMO for the PC and Xbox 360, yet they never released it in the west. I just dont understand, Frontier was just the game they needed for a good western release, but they never did it.

with their successful series Monster Hunter, Capcom doesn't seem to grasp this.
mostly fighting games (then making expansions at the price of a new game), canceling not 1, but TWO megaman games, no Breath of Fire game in years, them screwing up Resident Evil (which i never cared about), and even insulting the fans and blaming them for the cancellation of Legends 3 (they did, they really did)
and like you stated, monster hunter only being on handhelds (save the PS2 and Wii one) in the west is a bad idea
I'm buying the HD version of 3G that was released in japan recently off of playasia, because I know that it's never going to be released in the west, which is a serious fuck up.
I'm not disappointed by the release of Monster Hunter on the 3ds, but I'm upset that it's ANOTHER portable version. I was ecstatic when Tri came out on the Wii. Tri showed what the Wii could do graphically, but kept the amazing playability of the MH franchise.
like PhunnyConflicts, i to miss Breath of Fire, that was a fucking amazing series.
and one of the most interesting parts about it was the stories about the Dragons, coupled with all the interesting races of the game, and to top it off, the Main Character is never a human. (thats a big hell yes in my book)
The Dead Island MIC ON in co-op all the time is freakin annoying because 90% of games people dont realise their mic is on and the amount of feedback is insanity and you cant turn off their mics or mute them you have to get them to mute their mic and most of the time they dont

i dont know about xbox, but you can get a device for ps3, called "the eagle eye" which lets you connect your mouse and keyboard to your ps3, so thats kind of an invalid argumet.
There are too many console ports, doesn't mean theyre bad games but there is a lack of games that are built to run on the PC. PC is always an after thought and its terrible when people that build gaming computers have the power to outperform any console. We need games without the intention to just make money by porting their game across any piece of hardware that will run it, sacrificing the PCs potential. :/
Counter strike global offensive will be cross platform with ps3 and it will give ps3 gamers the option to connect any mouse and keyboard and play with that. Just li ut.
Dedicated servers are also expensive for developers. There have to be many around the world for minimum lag while playing, so they take p2p as a very cheap solution to the cost and yes there is also laziness as mentioned.
i can get competative games not being allowed to cross platform but i think more coop puzzle games would be good . I know portal 2 done something like that

In the past few years, Capcom has release horendeous games.
Resident Evil 5 was god aweful. Were they even zombies? Lost Planet 2 literally became an arcade game with quick-5-minute missions and a score board at the end of each mission, and Dead Rising 2 still had the time limit element in the game, penealizing you almost everytime whenever you choose to do side quest.
What happened to games like Breathe of Fire or Megaman Legends' series? Now those, those were games!

@Jaed3n Well, I won't denied that you are right about that. But just because I wanted to do a side quest does not mean that I should be punish for it either. It's just ridiculous that I have to restart all over if I choose to do one of the side missions instead of the main quest. It's extremely limiting, and in my opinion, it's just another way of how developers control you and your actions in a game, just as TB says in almost all of his videos.
@PhunnyConflicts But it was intended that way. My firstplaythrough of DR2 stopped midgame cause I reached a point where doing all of the sidequests was just getting too hard (I managed to do them all before that, barely, but I managed) and being the completionist that I am I decided to restart the game (which is a fairly rare thing to do in this day and age imo). Did all the sidequests my next playthrough and it was great. Also, TB mentioned loving DR cause you have to do it more than once

@PhunnyConflicts Monster Hunter is still really good, even as a portable game, but I do generally prefer playing a game of the sort - Epic boss fights, fantastic soundtrack, beautiful graphics - on a large screen TV with my good sound system.

i also must state to many Japanese game companies, if you want to sell games and want to release them in the west from the start, handhelds are a bad choice, as we just don't like them as much, i mean i personally own alot of PSP games (JRPGs) but thats cause i like JRPGs and research games ahead of time, most gamers in the West don't.
with their successful series Monster Hunter, Capcom doesn't seem to grasp this.

Capcom has lost their damn mind in my opinion.
mostly fighting games (then making expansions at the price of a new game), canceling not 1, but TWO megaman games, no Breath of Fire game in years, them screwing up Resident Evil (which i never cared about), and even insulting the fans and blaming them for the cancellation of Legends 3 (they did, they really did)
and like you stated, monster hunter only being on handhelds (save the PS2 and Wii one) in the west is a bad idea

I love what you said about Monster Hunter.
I'm buying the HD version of 3G that was released in japan recently off of playasia, because I know that it's never going to be released in the west, which is a serious fuck up.
I'm not disappointed by the release of Monster Hunter on the 3ds, but I'm upset that it's ANOTHER portable version. I was ecstatic when Tri came out on the Wii. Tri showed what the Wii could do graphically, but kept the amazing playability of the MH franchise.

like PhunnyConflicts, i to miss Breath of Fire, that was a fucking amazing series.
and one of the most interesting parts about it was the stories about the Dragons, coupled with all the interesting races of the game, and to top it off, the Main Character is never a human. (thats a big hell yes in my book)

The Dead Island MIC ON in co-op all the time is freakin annoying because 90% of games people dont realise their mic is on and the amount of feedback is insanity and you cant turn off their mics or mute them you have to get them to mute their mic and most of the time they dont

There are too many console ports, doesn't mean theyre bad games but there is a lack of games that are built to run on the PC. PC is always an after thought and its terrible when people that build gaming computers have the power to outperform any console. We need games without the intention to just make money by porting their game across any piece of hardware that will run it, sacrificing the PCs potential. :/

Dedicated servers are also expensive for developers. There have to be many around the world for minimum lag while playing, so they take p2p as a very cheap solution to the cost and yes there is also laziness as mentioned.

Counterstrike: GO is going to have multiplatform multiplayer. PC and PS3 only though. Valve tried to do it for 360, but Microsoft wouldn't let them.

In the past few years, Capcom has release horendeous games.
Resident Evil 5 was god aweful. Were they even zombies? Lost Planet 2 literally became an arcade game with quick-5-minute missions and a score board at the end of each mission, and Dead Rising 2 still had the time limit element in the game, penealizing you almost everytime whenever you choose to do side quest.
What happened to games like Breathe of Fire or Megaman Legends' series? Now those, those were games!

@Jaed3n Well, I won't denied that you are right about that. But just because I wanted to do a side quest does not mean that I should be punish for it either. It's just ridiculous that I have to restart all over if I choose to do one of the side missions instead of the main quest. It's extremely limiting, and in my opinion, it's just another way of how developers control you and your actions in a game, just as TB says in almost all of his videos.

My firstplaythrough of DR2 stopped midgame cause I reached a point where doing all of the sidequests was just getting too hard (I managed to do them all before that, barely, but I managed) and being the completionist that I am I decided to restart the game (which is a fairly rare thing to do in this day and age imo). Did all the sidequests my next playthrough and it was great. Also, TB mentioned loving DR cause you have to do it more than once

@PhunnyConflicts Monster Hunter is still really good, even as a portable game, but I do generally prefer playing a game of the sort - Epic boss fights, fantastic soundtrack, beautiful graphics - on a large screen TV with my good sound system.
